*Austin's POV*
I walked into school the next day and noticed everyone was staring at me. What's going on? Then I remembered Heather probably told everyone she punched me and they think I'm a wimp. I looked over at the guys and watched as they turned away. Then I looked and saw Ashlee and her friends turn away. Is everyone ignoring me? I sighed and walked to my locker looking down and grabbed my books needed and slammed it, making everyone turn towards me again. Including Ashlee.
"What the hell are you looking at? There's nothing to see!"
I walked away and went straight to my class.
*Ashlee's POV*
I watched as Austin slammed his locker shut and walked off angry. I feel really bad for him. Stop it, Ashlee. You're supposed to be mad at him. But I can't help it. I mean, I know he made a bet about me, but, I told myself I still kinda love him. Should I forgive him? Or maybe I should just wait. I don't know. I got my stuff and walked to my first class, which was chemistry, and Austin just happens to be in there. He's in most of my classes, so it's gonna be hard to avoid him. I walked in and sat down and looked at him and he just had his head laying down on the desk. I need to talk to him. Even though I said I wouldn't.
"Austin?"
No answer.
"Austin, please. I know I said not to talk to me anymore, but I really need to."
His head lifted up slowly and he just looked at me.
"Yeah?"
"I'm sorry I yelled and kicked you out and everything, really."
"I don't blame you. I deserved it. I knew you'd find out somehow."
"But why did you do it?"
"I don't know. I was stupid and.. I didn't think that I'd actually fall in love with you."
"What?"
"I know you know that I love you. I didn't think that I'd fall this hard. I am in love with you, Ashlee."
"Austin, I-"
"I am. I'm in love with you, and I'm not in the business of denying myself the simple pleasure of saying true things. I'm in love with you, and I know that love is just a shout into the void, and that oblivion is inevitable, and that we're all doomed and that there will come a day when all our labor has been returned to dust, and I know the sun will swallow the only earth we'll ever have, and I am in love with you."
(The Fault In Our Stars reference)
"Austin, I'm in love with you, too."
"Please forgive me. I didn't mean any of it. I swear."
"I-I can't."
"W-why not?"
"I just need some more time. I'm sorry."
"I understand."
"Thank you."
We sat in silence for the rest of the class unless either of us were asked a question, which is rare, because the teacher never acknowledges us since were in the back. When the bell rang, I got my stuff and walked out in front of Austin heading to second period.
"Ashlee, wait!"
"What?"
I turned around and Austin was right there and he straight up kissed me without any warning, whatsoever. I pushed him off immediately.
"What the hell are you doing?"
"I-I'm sorry."
"Austin, I told you I needed time."
"I know. I just-"
"Just what?"
"Needed to do that one last time in case you don't forgive me."
"Oh. Sorry it wasn't perfect, then."
"Yeah, it's fine. I just- won't bother anymore I guess."
"Austin, I-"
"No, it's fine. I promise."
And with that, he walked off without another word.
*Austin's POV*
I walked off leaving her with that. I just shouldn't even bother anymore, I guess. I went to my locker and noticed Alex walk up.
"Hey, man. Heard you got punched by a girl."
"What about it? Gonna say I'm a wimp? Gonna laugh in my face? Go ahead. I don't care anymore." I said, slamming my locker shut again.
"No, but I'm sorry about Ashlee."
"Sure you are."
"No, I'm serious. I know how much she meant to you."
"Then why didn't you call off the freaking bet?!"
"In all honesty, I forgot about it until Josh reminded me."
"Of course you did, Alex. You always 'forget' things. You're such a liar."
"Whatever. By the way, here's your winnings for the bet. And remember, you're the one that agreed to it." He smirked, walking off after handing me the money.
I've got to get revenge on him, and get Ashlee back.
