--The Next Day--
*Heather's POV*
So, I have no idea what has been up with Ashlee lately. She's been acting weird towards me and I'm getting kind of worried. I tried to forget it, but it always seems to come back. Anyways, Cody has tried helping me by taking me out to lots of places and it's working a little.
"So where are you taking me now, Cody?"
"Anywhere you want."
"But we've already been to too many places. I'm pretty sure we've visited every place in town."
"How about a movie?"
"I guess. Depends on what it is."
"Man of Steel?"
"Sure."
*Ashlee's POV*
So, Austin decided he would take us to the movies today. I'm just worried Heather is going to catch me with him, then she'll get mad. I don't know. I'll just see what happens. So, now I am currently waiting for Austin to return to my house and pick me up. I was just sitting on my couch when I heard a knock on the door. I got up to open it, and sure enough, it was Austin.
"Hey, ready to go?"
"Yeah, let's go."
He took my hand and we walked to the movies, considering it wasn't that far from where I live. We got our tickets for Man of Steel and our stuff and went to take our seats. This one couple came and sat in front of us, and I swear, I think it's Heather. Because Cody is with her. I really hope she does not turn around.
"Are you ok, Ashlee? You look like something's wrong."
"Um, no I'm fine."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, I'm totally fine."
"Ashlee?"
"I said I'm fine!" I said a little too loud.
Next thing I knew, Heather was staring right at me.
"Ash? What are you doing here? And with him?"
'Stand up to her, tell her you love him' I thought to myself. So I did.
"I'm on a date with him, Heather. That's why I'm here."
"You're dating that player?"
"He's not a player alright?! I don't see why you hate him that much because he's not that bad anyways!"
"I just don't like him alright!"
"There has to be more to this."
"Ok! Austin and I dated back in 8th grade. We went on until he became on the football team. That's when his player image started and since he started hitting on you, I just wanted to protect you from him because you're my best friend and I didn't want the same thing to happen to you like it did to me. That's why I have hated him so much!"
"Heather, I.."
"Save it! But don't come to me when he breaks your heart. Because I won't be there."
And with that she left the theater. I can't believe what just happened. I just lost my best friend.
"Austin, can we just leave please?"
"Sure."
"And, I need to talk to you about something."
"Ok."
We walked out of the theater and went up to the park so we could talk.
"So what did you wanna talk about?"
"Um, Austin, I think for now, we just need a break."
"Why?"
"Because, of Heather. I didn't know you two dated because she never told me. But, for now, I think I just need some time to myself. I'm sorry but she's my best friend."
"I understand. I'll give you some time."
"Thank you. I think I can walk home by myself."
"Ok, just stay careful."
"I will."
I got up and finished walking home and I immediately ran upstairs past my mom and into my room and locked the door.
"Ashlee? Sweetie, what's wrong?"
"Go away, mom. I don't wanna talk right now."
"Ok, well dinner is downstairs when you want it."
--1 Week Later--
It's been a week since the whole movie theater incident and Heather is still ignoring me. I'm doing the same, but I can't get myself to talk to her. I don't know why. I talked to my mom about it and she said that I need to give Heather some time to think this over. I agreed but I'm just waiting. I haven't talked to Austin either, and I don't know what to do about him. I'm basically having one of those 'choose which one is right stages'. It's either my best friend or a guy that I like that dated and hurt my best friend. This is very hard.
