Kenzie

Spring break had been over for three weeks now and not ever since that day have I seen the boys again. I didn't know what to think of them or anyone around them. I sat on the edge of my bed, face in my palms. I never thought I would feel endangered near them.

[Flashback Starts]

I had opened the door and stood there fear nimbling at my spine. I gulped down hard. I watched him and I didn't know whether to be afraid or feel safe. Was he with them or was he with me?

"Kenzie, you're leaving already. I thought you'd like the idea of sticking around and giving me a hand with them," Paul had smile in his face. I stood quiet and took a couple of steps back letting Paul in. Paul walked in and closed the door.

"Kenzie, dear, are you okay? You're really pale?" Paul's hand landed on my shoulder and resisted from pulling away. I didn't know what to think of Paul right now. It was best if I pretended I didn't know. To act oblivious.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm okay. It's just I forgot that I planned with Jayden to go out today. I wished I could stay but I can't. I can't leave my boyfriend," I said keeping my voice composed.

"Oh. Boyfriend, huh. Tell that boyfriend of yours that Paul is watching him." I smiled at Paul's warning to Jayden.

"I will. Bye, boys. Bye Paul," I gave Paul a kiss on his cheek and jetted out the door.

"Oh, Kenzie, Lou and Lux ask when you'll give them a visit?" I looked back. I couldn't say no to Lux.

"Um, tell Lou I'll call her and we'll make a date," I tried to act like my normal self. Paul chuckled.

"Of course. See you soon, Kenzie," Paul waved and closed the door behind me.

[Flashback Over]

"Kenzie? Kenzie, Tony said that he'll have the car ready in a bit, he just needs to get- Kenzie, are you okay." I refused to look up knowing that my face would give away how I felt.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Just a bad headache." I exhaled slowly and pulled my hands away from my face and forced them into my pockets.

"C'mon, I bet some McDonald's and a good run will do you some good," Rosie placed a hand on my shoulder. I looked up at her and I had never noticed that her eyes weren't exactly hazel as I had always thought she had. Hers were unlike mine in how they had specks and swirls of colors in it. Hers were a light brown color real close to honey. Her eyes held life, knowledge, and maybe that was why she saw what I couldn't see. She saw through them. It's not exactly something she would imagine that they were hiding but she knew that they were hiding something.

"I'm not hungry. But thanks," I stood up. Thanks for everything.

"You sure you're not sick?" Rosie asked as we walked out of my room.

"No." I said. I grabbed my bags from the entrance of my room. Rosie took my duffel and once we were out the room she grabbed me by my arm and stopped me. Standing in front of me she looked at me and placed her hand on my forehead.

"No fever. Premenstrual symptoms?" She asked herself. I shrugged.

"If we have time we can go pick up Jayden," Rosie tried to lightened the mood. I gave her a weak smile.

"Um, we can call the boys-" "No- I mean if we don't start walking we won't get a good workout and then coach Keeley is going to get you Rosie," I said. She narrowed her eyes and then sighed when she couldn't figure anything out with my blank expression.
