Yulia was in middle of the dance floor when her cellphone rang, causing her to glance worriedly at it.
"Wonder who that could be? Mom and Dad was just going to have a quiet dinner at home tonight."
She stated, stepping over to the table that they had been occupying and answered it, her face draining of all color as she listened to the voice on the other side.
"Lena, I've gotta go.....Do you think your mom would take me to the hospital?"
Her voice was shaking as she closed the phone, her hands trembling as she did so.
"yeah, what happened Yulia?"
Lena asked, putting a hand on Yulia's arm as she used the other to dail home.
"My....Dad....He was going to the grocery and...."
She couldn't even finish the sentence, her voice breaking.
Yulia rushed into the room, demanding to know where the trauma bay was.
After she was pointed in the right direction she rushed there, just as the paramedics was wheeling a gurney that held a familiar figure, the sheet covered in blood.
"Yulia! The police called me as soon as it happened."
Her mother stated, pulling her into a hug, letting her completely break down.
"We can't lose him."
She stated.
Much later that night Yulia was sleeping on one of the benches in the waiting room when she felt a hand shake her.
"Ivan? What happened? When did you get here?"
She asked, sitting up only to earn a sigh.
She noticed that the man's eyes were oddly glassy, though he did not smell like booze or drugs.
"Yulia, I hate that I have to be the one to tell you this but your Dad....He...."
He didn't have to finish the sentence for Yulia's blood to run old.
"No!" She exclaimed, suddenly shaking as sobs wrecked her body
"I'm so sorry."
