Lena sighed as she glanced down at the table, running a hand through her hair as she waited on Yulia to arrive, all manner of thoughts running through her mind as she glanced at her watch again. Just what was taking Yulia so long? Had she forgotten that they had a date today? Was they moving too fast?
She wondered, the thought alone making her feel sick to her stomach.
They had been together for two years now, and in only one short week they would be graduating.
What if Yulia wants to break up with me?
what if we are moving too fast, getting too serious? We are only eighteen!
what if she....Suddenly a hand covered her eyes, prompting her to whirl around only to see Yulia standing there laughing silently.
"Sorry I'm late."
she mumbled, dodging the half hearted blow that the redhead aimed at her before sitting down on the opposite side of the table, smiling Mischievously before she added.
"I had to do something important and I lost track of time."
She stated, one hand resting inside her pocket, eyes glancing down at the menu that was plastered on the table.
"doesn't seem like it's been that long does it? Since we first came here?"
she asked, smiling slightly at the memory.
"No, it doesn't." Lena agreed, noticing how Yulia was unable to look at her.
Something is wrong.
"I'll be glad not to see Selina and that bunch every day....I mean we're sure to cross paths with them once in a blue moon but hopefully they grow the hell up after they get jobs."
Yulia stated, mentally cursing herself for sounding so awkward.
Remain calm Yulia. You're going to worry her if you don't.
She thought, her hand clutching the object that was in her pocket.
"So you're staying here then? Not going to that school in New York you wanted to?"
Lena asked, earning a sigh.
"Actually.....That's what I wanted to talk to you about."
Yulia responded, noticing how Lena's eyes turned stormy at that.
"So you are going."
Lena stated, voice almost too low to hear.
"Well....That actually depends on you."
Yulia responded, reaching over to squeeze her hand, only for Lena to pull away.
"I'm not going to stop you if that is what you're worried about!"
Lena stated, voice sharp though her lips quivered slightly.
"Let me finish Lenka....I'm not asking for permission....I'm....well I'm asking something far more important that that." Yulia responded calmly, moving to sit beside of Lena, putting hand on her knee before taking a deep breath.
Just how the hell am I gonna out and say this?
She wondered before she finally began.
"I could go to any school like that in Russia and still get the degree I want. It's you I can't go on without. Lena...I...Remember when we had that fight a month or so back and we took a break? I cried for three days though it was my fault you were angry. I barely could function without you....." Yulia began, pausing and licking her lips before saying
"Lena, what I am trying to say is...."
Here she produces the object from her pocket, a small black velvet covered box.
"Will you marry me?"
Lena didn't know rather to laugh of cry at this, though out of the sheer irony she began to do both, producing a small box similar to the one Yulia still held.
"Only if you agree first. I was the one who ordered this a month ago!"
Yulia, who had been so sure that Lena would say no had to blink in surprise at this before a grin broke across her face.
"Hey! I asked you first but of course I will.....I didn't't just pour out my heart for nothing.
