Today I was starting my new job in the restaurant in town. I woke up at 7:30am, showered got dressed in my jeans and white vest top, did some light make up and put my hair up in a messy bun. I grabbed my phone, my purse and my keys and shoved them in my bag ready to go. I head out the door towards my car.
I had to be at work for 9am but I got stuck in traffic, something to do with a tour bus breaking down in the middle of the motorway. Seeing as I wanted to give my boss a good first impression it probably wouldn’t be great to be late. But it looked like I didn’t have a choice. I sat in the traffic for what must have been an hour, it was already 9:20. Suddenly I heard my phone ringing, my ringtone was The Vamps – Can We Dance, I loved that song so I could quite happily have left the phone to listen to the whole song, good thing I picked it up though. It was my new boss to be. He screamed down the phone at me and I explained I was in traffic because of the stupid tour bus.
An hour later I was at work. Taking orders, running drinks to the tables, and wiping them down customer after customer. Andy (my boss) came to tell me he wanted me behind the bar for a while, so I lifted the counter up to walk behind the bar and serve the rather impatient customers. Just as I poured a pint of lager, 4 rather stressed young men walked in and approached the bar. I asked them
“What can I do for you boys?”
“Can we have 1 coffee, 2 pepsis, and 1 diet pepsi please?” they replied
“Of course you can, so are you going to tell me why you walked in here looking all stressed out?”
“Oh, it’s just our tour bus just broke down on the motorway and we needed to be in the studio 2 hours ago, by the time the bus was up and running again we had missed our slot for the studio, so we just needed to calm down and get a drink somewhere” they explained.
“Oh so you are the band that made me 2 hours late for my new job are you?” I said with a sarcastic smile on my face.
“Sorry about that! Is there anything we can do to say sorry?”
“No don’t worry, its fine!”
I couldn’t help but notice one of the boys hadn’t said anything the whole time and had just sat there staring at me. It was actually kind of creepy so I just asked him politely
“Would you mind not staring at me please? It’s making me a bit uncomfortable”
“Oh sorry, it’s just it has been a while since we have come to a public place, and I’m not used to seeing anyone who isn’t a fan or anything, by the way I’m Josh!”
“And I’m George, this is Jaymi, and this is JJ!”
"Well it’s lovely to meet you boys”
I served the boys their drinks and they went to sit down at the table by the window. I carried on serving the customers but for some reason I couldn't get Josh out of my head, his eyes were gorgeous and his hair was perfect.
-Josh-
I sat there drinking my pepsi and listening to the boys plan what to do about the recording studio. But all I could think about was her, she was perfect. I know I only just met her but I think I like her, like really like her. The boys noticed I was still looking at her and JJ said to me
"Hey mate, you like her don't you? You're making it so obvious, just go ask her for her number"
"Um, but what if she doesn't like me, I will just embarrass myself."
"The worst that can happen is she says no, and you will never have to see her again" Jaymi said
"But I will want to see her again"
"Oh god he really has got it bad for her" George said
I thought about what Jaymi said and waked up to the bar, I perched on the bar stool waiting patiently for her attention. She walked over to me resting her elbows on the counter
"Back so soon? Can I get the same for you this time?" She asked
"No, just your number" I said trying to act all smooth. She looked a bot shocked, I had only walked in here half an hour ago, I don't even know her name and yet I asked for her phone number. She grabbed a napkin from underneath the counter and took her pen out of her pocket she wrote down her number and slid it over to me. I read it out in my head.
"Cady, that's a beautiful name I said, I will try find some time to call you okay?" I said
"Why thankyou, I'm sure you wont be too busy, I mean you found time to come to the restaurant didn't you?" She asked with a grin on her face
"Yeah alright, see you soon"
The boys called me and we were ready to leave for the meeting with our manager, at least I had Casey's number so I didn't feel so bad about leaving her.
