My breathing felt slow and labored. I squinted my eyes at a horrible light shining directly into my eyes. I could faintly see a woman rushing beside me, holding some sort of mask over my nose and mouth. I felt a bump, and I assumed that I was on a gurney. It was hard to breathe and my body hurt all over. The gurney stopped abruptly. I heard voices all around me, but I couldn't understand what they were saying. People were moving around me quickly. The mast was taken off of my face, and everything went black.

I opened my eyes, or at least I tried to. They felt heavy, but I was able to open them slightly. My body ached, and I felt sick. I heard footsteps come closer to where I was laying. I turned my head as far as I could to see a doctor coming near me. He sat in a chair next to the bed and sighed.

"Hello Charlotte." My mouth felt too dry to speak, so I didn't answer.

"Do you know why you're here?" I shook my head no. I didn't remember anything that could have caused me to end up in here.

"You attempted suicide at the school by jumping off of the building." I then thought back to the suicide pact that we had made.

"Out of everyone who took the fall, you got the worst of it." At those words, I shuddered. I then was able to remember every detail of the drop.

"You are so lucky to have survived." He clasped his hands together and looked at me.

"You shattered a vertebra and punctured a lung." No wonder I felt like shit.

"What about my friends?" I was finally able to rasp out.

"Would you like to see them?" He asked me. I was very surprised at his question.

"That would be wonderful." I said back. He got up and stepped out of the room.

I assumed that he was going to find them for me. Not long after, the door opened and Tabitha rolled in on a wheelchair and Emily stepped in right behind her. Not long after them, Mark came in too.

"Hey guys," I said in a rasp-whisper.

"Charlotte! What happened to you?" Tabitha exclaimed as she wheeled over to one side of the bed. The others gathered around me and were ready to listen to what I had to say.

"The doctor said that I have a broken vertebra and a punctured lung."

"God that's terrible!" Mark said. Something was missing. Carter and Liam were not there.

"Where did Carter and Liam go?" I asked curiously. They all hung their heads low. Emily spoke first.

"Carter's in a coma." She looked really sad.

"Liam was here, but we heard that last night he got hit by a car." What? Hit by a car? How in the hell did that happen?

"We were told that he's injured pretty bad, but he'll live." I did my best to observe the group.

It seemed that Emily's nose was broken, Tabitha had a broken leg, but I couldn't see anything wrong with Mark. I decided to ask him about it.

"Mark? What happened to you?" He sighed and then cleared his throat.

"I was told that my mother had been found dead and that I would be going to live in a foster home." We all gasped.

"I ended up having a small heart attack." Mark remained silent after that.

I was able to assume that the heart attack was small enough to where he could walk around and that he wouldn't have to recover for to long. It just seemed weird to me that we had tried so desperately to kill ourselves, and we all survived. At that moment, I founded it harder to breathe. I started to cough and wheeze. Emily quickly ran out of the room and the doctor came back in.

"You guys have to leave the room now," The doctor said sternly. Everybody tried to object, but he made them leave. I couldn't control the coughing. The doctor had gathered more help, and they were rushing around me. My chest started to hurt worse than it ever had before. My vision started to get weird as I tried to figure out what was going on.

They were still rushing around when I felt a final breath slip out.......
