A blast of cold air hits my face. Before I walked out the door, everybody decided to fight about the fact that my brother might end up like my dad. My brother Gary is a college dropout and my dad has been laid off for a while and my mother is always stating how lazy he is. I hate it how everything seems so perfect and magical on the outside but in reality, it's all a load of shit. I guess my fake smiles really can say something. My family fights too often to notice that I'm alive and my ex boyfriend beat me and bullied others? What a shame. What a shame that everything has to be so shitty but it's hard for people to realize what is really going on.

That warm sweatshirt wasn't so warm anymore and the rain pelted at me like little pin pricks. I knew that their fight would carry on for at least an hour, and that they wouldn't even notice that I slipped out. It's probably a good thing that they don't know where I'm off to. Why would they even care anyway? When I get an A honor roll, they'd much rather argue about something stupid. I knew where I was going, and they didn't so that's all that matters. Almost there. Just a few more steps. I see it over the horizon and I know that these are my final steps........
