When I thought that these were going to be my final steps, I was wrong. As I neared the guard rail, I was confused to see 3 people leaning against the railing. Dammit! I thought that nobody was going to be here! I thought to myself. But I also wondered why there would be a group of people standing out in the pouring rain.

"We know what you came for." A girl with ginger hair and blue eyes said, catching me off guard.

"E-excuse me?" I stammered nervously.

"You came here to commit suicide by jumping off this bridge." A boy with brown hair and hazel eyes said. How did they know that!?  I thought again.

"Come here and we'll explain," they all said in unison. I slowly walked over to them, ignoring the fact that I had never seen any of these people before in my life. The boy with black hair and green eyes spoke first.

"My name is Carter Brown." He was followed up by the girl.

"I'm Emily Sans." Lastly, the brown-haired boy spoke.

"And I'm Mark Fletcher. All of us attend West Side middle school, and are in the eighth grade." Mark said in a casual tone.

"And all of us came here to do the same thing." Emily said calmly. I was really confused. How did they know all of this? Well I suppose I'd better figure this out.

"So you guys came here to jump off of this bridge too?" I asked, clearly puzzled. They all nodded their heads. What the hell?  Emily spoke up next.

"I know it may sound strange at first, but it's true." I stood in silence for a moment.

"Well, there's got to be a reason why you're here. Would you mind telling us your story?" Mark asked. I decided that it would be a good idea to tell them. Maybe I could actually make friends with these people. I walked over to them and took a deep breath.

"My name is Tabitha Sparks, and I as well go to West Side middle school." Emily's expression changed for the moment.

"Tabitha!? Why would somebody as popular as you want to commit suicide?" See, this is exactly what I was talking about before. Everybody just assumes that everything is okay when it's really not.

"Why don't we let her explain that for herself?" Mark said sarcastically. I sighed and cleared my throat.

"I know everything may seem fine, but it's actually not," Here we go.

"My family is constantly trying to tear each other apart and they always forget that I'm even alive sometimes." They all looked up at me expectantly. They wanted me to keep going? Maybe somebody actually does care.

"Today I tried to break up with Jackson but he called me and ugly slut and pushed me into the lockers." Carter's expression turned into anger.

"You were dating THAT asshole!? That's the same guy who tried to drown me today!" He looked absolutely furious. Jackson tried to drown Carter? I knew he was an ass, but I didn't know that he was that severe!

"Carter, I'm so sorry for what he did to you, but I've tried to escape from him for so long. I never ever supported what he did and I wanted to leave him so badly." Carter's expression softened.

"It's okay..I guess it's not your fault, and you are the one who tried to dump him." Carter did have a good point.

"So what about you guys?" I asked curiously. It would be cool to learn more about these people and why they wanted to jump off of this bridge. Carter spoke up first.

"My dad died a few years ago, and ever since then my mom has been an emotional wreck. And, not a single day goes by where I don't get bullied." I felt bad because his situation sounded a lot worse than mine. Emily was the next to tell her story.

"My mom is an asshole," She began slowly. "She always yells at me for no reason and I try so hard to please her. She makes me feel so depressed and I can't help it." Somehow, I knew where this was going. She slowly rolled up her sleeves, and even though I knew what to expect, what I saw still made me feel sick to my stomach. There were cuts all they way up her arm, and they looked to be really deep. She quickly rolled them down as if she were ashamed of herself.

 "Emily...I..."

"Don't even start." She snapped quickly.

"Well, I guess it's my turn," Mark said quickly. "I'm a drug dealer, but I don't do the drugs. My mom isn't around much, so I have to support myself by earning quick money." I was shocked. Somebody as young as Mark selling drugs? He's never done them either?

"I know it's surprising, but it's the truth." Mark said. I was about to ask him about it, when we all turned our heads to see a tall figure sprinting towards the bridge........
