CHAPTER 31
We arrive at the gate to Snows mansion in a Capitol truck, driven by Aneel and Darcy. There's no need for inspection because Aneel and Darcy are supposedly there insiders that go out a gather supplies and news. Not like they need it.
Once we drive into the small parking section by the mansion, Aneel signals for our armored men to move out and enter the mansion. The size of the truck is very big so it's able to hold a capacity of 35 people.
I give one look at Peeta and he kisses my cheek. "Be safe, please." he pleads.
"I promise I'll come back." I say. I jump out of the truck and Aneel hands me a Nightlock pill. The plan is for Darcy to have her usual night time tea with Snow. I will smash the pill into powder and put it into the cup.
Darcy gives me Aneels peacekeeper uniform and leads me to the back door of the mansion. We make sure to be as far as possible when we make our way through the halls to avoid suspicion. Once we reach the kitchen, I small the pill and pour it into Snows cup. Darcy requests I be in the room when she has her tea with Snow, because she always has guards at the door. We walk down the hall to the sitting room where Darcy sets the table and I wait by the door. After about ten minutes I hear heavy footsteps echo in the hallway. The smell of blood and roses gets stronger and stronger. Finally the doors open and Snow walks in with a bright smile.
"My darling Darcy." he smiles.
"Hello grandpa." Darcy smiles back and hugs Snow.
They sit at the table while Snow admires the china. "My dear, this tea smells... different. Have you added a new herb to it?" he asks.
"Yes grandpa." Darcy smiles.
"And what is it my sweet?" Snow asks.
"Why don't you try it grandpa?" Darcy says.
Snow smiles the raises the china to his lips. Once the cup comes within contact with his lips he throws it over his shoulder with the glass smashing into pieces on the marble floor with the contents inside the cup spreading everywhere.
"Miss Everdeen, I thought you promised you wouldn't lie." Snow says.
I felt as though I was going to faint. My whole plan was ruined. He it was me. He was going to order in real peacekeepers and shoot me. Why doesn't he already, it's destined to happen so why not now. Just as I'm about to remove my helmet I hear a gunshot that forces me to the ground with it ringing in my ears. It was at me. Someone shot me. But why couldn't I feel it. Why was there no blood everywhere. I look up and see Darcy pointing her gun at Snow with him laying across the floor on top of his china and tea. Darcy has shot him.
