Chapter Four

Kaitlyn's POV

It was 10 minutes before I went on and let me tell you, I do not take adrenaline well. A makeup artist had just done my makeup and some lady in pulled me into a dressing room and put black ripped skinny jeans and a white shirt on me. They put a gold necklace around my neck and an army green jacket over the white shirt. They said the black converse I had on were fine. I was pacing next to Shawn as the dream I had came back to me.

*dream flashback*

"Kaitlyn, you're up. Good luck!" One of the people said. I wiped my hands on my dress and ran out on stage. I heard all 'Boo's. I didn't hear any encouragement at all. I took a couple steps back. I turned around and ran off stage. Shawn's arms stopped me.

"What was that?" He asked in a mean tone. Tears came to my eyes. "That was horrible. I don't even know why I had you as my opening act." The tears flooded over and I pushed Shawn aside, running to the bathroom. I could still feel his hands on my shoulders. I slid down the bathroom wall and hugged my knees. Shawn was pounding on the door, yelling my name I didn't answer.

*end of dream flashback*

"Shawn, I can't do this," I said, pulling my hair from the roots. Shawn rushed over to me.

"Katie, angel, babe, you can do this. You'll do it for Jessica, you'll do it for me. Don't picture everyone naked, it doesn't help," I chuckled. "Picture that it is only us in the audience. Sing a the song you wrote for me, then do the thing you planned. You'll do great. Everyone will love you. Remember the day I asked you out?" Shawn asked.

"Yeah, in front of the audience of the show," I said.

"Well you preformed that day. In front of my fans. You know how supportive they were. They loved you. And that girl that asked you when you were releasing the song." I nodded.

"5 minutes Kaitlyn," Andrew said. I smiled giving him a silent 'thank you'.

"I'll be right back," I told Shawn, running off to the sitting area.

"JESSIE!" I yelled. She walked around the corner. I grabbed her by the hand and ran back to the stage entrance.

"Alright Kaitlyn, you're on in 3," the lights in the audience went out, "2... 1." All the crowd sounded faded as I went onstage. I smiled really big.

"Hey guys," I said into the microphone. Loud screams erupted from the crowd. "How's your day been?" Lots of screams came from the crowd. I chuckled. "I'll take that as good. Okay, so you probably want to hear singing, so... You might know this song. This is I Didn't Know everyone!" I yelled. The fans screamed.

I sung the song and smiled as the crowd sand it with me. There was a small break between the chorus and the bridge. "Alright guys, this is all you, blow me away," I said. I put the mic down and the lyrics boomed through the stadium. I smiled and joins them again as the chorus started again. After we finished the song I got excited.

"Oh my gosh guys, that was amazing, thank you. Ya know, that makes me feel a lot better about my songwriting.

So I don't really have any other complete songs. But, with permission, I was able to do something special for my cousin, who is also a very good friend of mine. Jessica, can you come up here?" Jessica stepped on stage, confused. I saw Shawn push her further, but she wouldn't come on stage. Shawn pushed her out by my side and ran back stage again. He waved before he stepped out of view. "Now, Jessica. I know you might feel uncomfortable, but I'm right here, okay?" I said, interlacing our fingers. "Now, I got even more permission, today is both my lucky day and your lucky day, to invite one of my best friends to sing with me. Some of you might know of him his name is Luke Hemmings?" I said. All the girls screamed super loudly I swear I saw a few of the dads face palm. Luke walked up to the front of the stage to grab a mic from one of the security guards. "We both dedicate this song or... This cover of a song to Jessica and to all of you out there who need it.

"I guess we could sing that too," Luke said, looking at me. I smirked, turning back to look at Jessica.

"I dedicate this song to you, the one who never sees the truth." Luke and I sang together.

"That I can take away your hurt," Luke sang.

"Babycakes," I sang. The crowd cheered. "This song is called Scars To Your Beautiful by Alessia Cara," I said. I smiled at Jessica and I'm betting Luke was too. She squeezed my hand and I pulled her closer to me. I started singing the song and looked over to see Jessica with tears in her eyes. It was almost Luke's turn to sing and he walked to the other side of Jessica draped his arm over her shoulder.

I smiled as we finished the song. Luke took his arm off her shoulders and she attacked me in a hug. We both fell to the ground, but still, we rolled around hugging each other. I laughed and let go letting her stand up and walk back with Luke. I went up to the mic.

"Okay, so I'm guessing you came here to hear Shawn sing, not to see me rolling on the floor hugging my cousin," I said. They all screamed, but I heard part of the crowd laughing. "Thank you to everyone who laughed, you're very generous," I smiled anyway, can we get the crowd to roar loud for Shawn?" I asked. The crowd roared pretty loud but I knew they could do better.

"I can't hear you guys," Shawn said through a mic. The crowd sounded louder than thunder and my ear drums hurt so bad. "That's better," Shawn said.

"Alright guys. Give it up for Shawn Mendes!" I yelled, running backstage. I gave Shawn a quick kiss before he ran on stage.

I walked back to Luke and Jessica, who were kissing. I giggled. "Do I get a kiss?" I asked, puckering my lips. Jessica rolled her eyes and Luke chuckled. Jess pressed a kiss against my cheek. "Meh, good enough." I turned around and started walking towards the food.
