Abby's POV

I just felt so outta place right now. My body was here but my mind was having some seriously crazy thoughts. 

Everyone was looking at me, whispering, pointing my way, judging me. Mikayla must have noticed my anxiety because she came over and hugged me so tightly I felt nauseated.

"Hey, do you wanna go down onto the beach and get some fresh air?" She tucked a few stray strands of my hair behind my ear.

I nodded. "Yeah, I'd like to get outta here." We we're heading out towards the balcony when Samantha, Sharni, Jimmy, Robbie, Jacob, Anna and Tom were coming back from dancing.

"You guys heading for a dance?" Samantha asked.

"No, we're just gonna chill for a bit down on the beach."

"Cool, sounds like a plan, would you mind if we tagged along?" Sharni wondered. "Matt told us to head down soon."

I didn't mind. "Sure, shall we then." We all followed Mikayla down towards the beach as we were about to take the stairs Hunter and Dean had just come up.

"Hey guys its amazing down their Matt's done a great job. We're just checking in then we'll be back down." Dean had this incredible goofy grin on his face and by the look of it he was wearing a deeper shade of lipgloss. How cute.

"Are others down there?" I asked suddenly feeling a little insecure.

"Just Natalia and Tyler." Dean raised his eyebrows up and down. "I think we have a new golden couple for 2017."

"Cute." I smiled. Then we headed down towards the beach. We knew the set up was great cause Mikayla and I helped earlier today.

Tyler and Natalia waved us over to come join them. I noticed Anna looked a little sharply at Natalia. Most girls had a crush on Tyler maybe she did as well.

We all sat down together in a circle. I felt comfortable with these people, they were by no means judgemental, each of them with their own hang ups and problems, but they were accepting. Maybe it was because most of them were a year older than Mikayla and I. We starting talking about how quickly our summer holidays has ended and we all laughed about the fun stuff.

"I'm gunna go let Matt know we're all down here." Mikayla whispered then lazily got up. "You ok without me for a bit?"

"Yeah go." I smiled waving her off.

"Where you going Mikayla?" Sharni asked.

"I'm just gunna see if Mum needs help it's nearly 12am so most people will be going soon."

"Hang on a sec. Sam, I have to go I'm starting at the cafe at 630am. Are you going to stay a little longer?" Sharni asked Samantha.

Samantha then looked over at Jimmy. Weird move girl!

"Um, I'm gonna stay a little longer. I'm not working tomorrow. But who's taking you home?"

"Jacob, Tom and Robbie are going into the city to meet up with some friends. I'm getting a lift with them." Sharni rattled off the plan.

"Ok." Text me when you get home babe." With that Sam walked to Sharni and gave her a huge hug. "Nite."

Those who left said their goodbyes then Sharni, the boys and Mikayla walked back up to the house. As 12am hit a few fireworks were let off it was so cool. This party was amazing.

A few minutes later Hunter and Dean joined us. Dean mentioned he was working tomorrow morning at a mechanic shop so he had to get going. Anna had a 1230am curfew so she offered to drive Dean home. Hunter walked them to the car obviously to give her new man a sweet last kiss.

I saw a shadow heading down towards the beach and it was Matt. He came and sat down right next to me.

"Now the real fun's about to begin." He laughed as he placed an empty bottle out of the esky he'd carried down and put in on the rug.
