My heart skips a beat as I read the sentence over and over again. It echoed in my head, taunting me.
Your life of happiness will not last.
The Royal Rogue has found us. The little note was no doubt meant for Cameron and I. My mate wraps his arm around my shoulders, comforting me. The crowd was silent. No one dared to speak, even the young pups were quiet as if they sensed the dread and fear. I take a deep breath, pushing my thoughts to the side. I had to be strong. I can not show weakness. I had to show everyone that everything will be okay. I look out into the crowd and look at all the expressions of fear. I clear my throat.
"Return to your homes." I say, my voice ringing out into the crowd. I had unintentionally used my alpha power so everyone scurries away, the air no longer silent. In no time, everyone has gone besides my family, Joseph, Landon the Gamma and Skylar. "How did the note get here?" Cameron asks, his voice low. I place my hand on my mates arm as I wait for someone to answer. "There was some disruptions here at the border so my beta went to see what was going on. He had found the note lying on the floor. There was no one there." Gabriel answers. I mull over this piece of information, clutching the cardboard harder.
If this so called Royal Rogue could get near our Pack borders without being caught, what else could he do? Did he have other people working for him?
What are we going to do?
I take a deep breath when I hear someone clearing their throat. I turn to see Skylar shuffling her feet. Her stance was tense and her eyes kept darting around. I frown. "Are you okay, Sky?" I ask. Her eyes shoot up to meet mine and she gives me a small smile, although I knew it was fake. "I'm fine, thank you." She says.
She must be scared.
I give Sky a reassuring smile and say, "you can go home." She visibly relaxes and her eyes show relief. I don't want her to stay somewhere where she doesn't feel safe. I'm sure this whole situation isn't helping her with her past. "Thank you, Luna." She says, bowing her head. I don't even bother telling her to call me by my name, she doesn't listen anyway. Besides, my wolf loved being called Luna or the many other things we get called. She was very proud of her status, as am I. I just didn't want people to feel as if I am someone so special where they can't talk to me. I want people to treat me as if I were a normal person. I want people to be themselves around me. Skylar walks away and we all watch her as she leaves.
"Who is this Royal Rogue?" Anastasia asks, holding her belly protectively. Cameron and I share a glance. We had failed to tell everyone about what the Moon Goddess had told us. I look down at the note in my hand and I throw it to the ground. "I want the note burned." I say, rubbing my face. "Let's go inside. We'll explain it all."

After a good half an hour with many interruptions, everyone was kept up to date. Well everyone minus Ian and Megan. They had school. They all stare at each other, having no words. Logan groans, rubbing his face with his hands. "So we are all going to be killed by this so called Royal Rogue?" He asks incredulously. I lean back in my chair and say, "I sure hope not." Despite my casual words, fear still ruled over my mind. I knew my mate knew this because he never let go of me. I was grateful for his touch, it helped me keep calm.
"What are we going to do?" Damien asks. Cameron's turns his attention to his father. "We will double the guards on patrol. No one will go out after dark. All children who go to school will go together and with at least five guards. No one will go out of the territory without mine or your permission." He pauses to think. "Did I miss anything?" He asks, tightening his hold on me. It was silent for a second, all going through the rules. "I don't think you missed anything." Gabriel says finally. "Also, I want five guards with you when I'm not around." Cameron says to me. I frown. "I don't need guards." I say, turning to face him. "You will get guards. That's final." He says, standing up. My wolf whimpers at the loss of our mates touch and I watch my mates retreating form. I ignore my wolf, turning to face the table again. I knew he was mad that I'm objecting to what he said. It doesn't help that the Royal Rogue is close. We don't even know how close. I know he's frustrated. I sigh, rubbing my face.
