Simons POV
"Where..where am I?" Ashlyn weakly whimpers slowly opening her eyes, as she begins to realize what happened.
"Ashlyn!" Adele and I say at the same time.
Adele reaches out her hand and tries holding Ashlyn's.
Ashlyn slowly reaches her weak, trembling hand out.
You can tell she is in a lot of pain her face shows it all when she moves her arms.
I hate seeing her like this, it melts my heart.
When she finally locks hands with Adele her full arm is exposed.
The big, puffy, swollen cuts have temporarily stopped bleeding.
Just seeing how bad they are I'm so thankful that my daughter is still alive with us.
"Oh, Ashlyn I-" Adele's voice breaks.
"Mumma? Are you ok? Why are you in a bed?" Ashlyn worriedly asks as she looks around.
"I'm fine I just-" Adele gets interrupted by the arrival of Ashlyn's doctor.
"Ashlyn suffered from a severe blood loss, which we already fixed by putting more blood into her system." He pauses. "We also have to undergo Ashlyn in a surgery to stitch up both her arms. The temporary stitch can only hold her cut together for so long, and we need her to heal completely so that's what's needed to be done."
"W-w- what?!" Adele screams as she suddenly sits up in her bed. "My little girl, My baby girl, needs surgery?"
"Babe, calm down," I say as I gently rub her back.
"Simon, did you hear what the Doctor said? He said Ashlyn needs freaking surgery!" Adele screams at me.
"Adele, look at me," I say as she turns and we lock eyes. "It will be okay. Do you know why? Because we are in this together." I brush hair out of her face.
"A-alright," Adele replies as tears begin to fall onto her perfect skin.
I carefully brush them away and kiss her soft lips.
The doctor clears his throats and keeps going, "So we will just put her to sleep and stitch her up and she will go through some therapy, which we will talk more about later and sooner then you know it she will be all better." He ends with a smile.
"Wh-wh-" Adele starts with a raised voice.
I gently squeeze Adele's hand making her turn her head and face me. "We need to stay strong for Ashlyn, she needs to know that everything is going to be okay and that she can get through this. That means we need to play our part, as parents and show her that it's okay. If this is going to need to be done to help her, then we need to be okay with it and not freak out. Because you know that makes her scared when she sees us like this." I whisper so only Adele can hear.
She looks at me and slowly flashes me a smile I can tell she really took that in.
Adele turns her attention back to the doctor and says in a calmer voice, "Are you sure this is what is needed to be done to help my baby?" The doctor nods as Adele rubs her head.
I comfortingly squeeze her hand, knowing this is really hard for her.
"Mumma don't worry I'll be okay," Ashlyn says convincingly looking at Adele.
"We are going to go into surgery right now Ms Adkins, could you and Mr Konecki please sign here." The doctor motions to a form.
I watch her try to stay strong by fighting the tears in her eyes.
She shakily takes the pen and signs the paper.
Adeles POV
"Stop!" I suddenly yell to the doctors as they begin to slowly take Ashlyn to the surgery room.
I jump off the bed, before Simon or any of the nurses could do anything to stop me.
A wave of dizziness comes across me as soon as my feet touch the cold hard ground. Ignoring it, I dizzily run to Ashlyn.
"Baby, I'm so sorry this is all my fault."
Ashlyn reaches her hand out to me, "Mumma, please come with me I don't want to do this alone."
"Excuse me, Mam, we need to start the surgery." The doctor calmly says.
"No! I need to be with my baby during the surgery! I can't leave her all alone!" I yell.
"Mam, get out of the way I assure you Ashlyn will be completely okay." The Doctor says as he pushes me out of the way.
"Mumma! Mumma, don't leave me! Mumma!"Ashlyn's cries get quieter and quieter as they move further and further away from the room I'm in.
I stumble as I try to run after them, unable to run with the world spinning around me.
I feel big strong arms wrap around me as they carry me back to my hospital bed. "S-Simon I need to be with Ashlyn!" I yell kicking my legs at him trying to escape his grip.
"Adele you need to calm down. You need rest, Babe." Simon says setting me back on the bed.
" Don't tell me to cakm down Simon! I won't calm down until Ashlyn is okay!" I scream.
"Ashlyn will be okay, Adele. This surgery will help her, and make her better. Everything will be okay." Simon assures me, while stroking my hair."Remember what I told you, you were doing a good job in there for Ashlyn. Keep it up babe, I know you can do it I believe in you."
"Will you believe in me for the rest of my life?"
He whispers, "of course I will, Adele." We slowly find ourselves locking hands.
My eyelid begins to become heavy as the sleepiness finally takes over my body.
I feel Simon leave my side and I hear the door open. "Si," I sleepily say," please stay with me."
"I was hoping you would say that." Simon smiles as he slowly climbed onto the tiny hospital bed and wrapped his arms around me.
This was the first time since our fight that I was happily sleeping with Simon again.
I wanted this moment to never end.
