*Unbelievable*
I sighed and got out of bed. I really didn't want to go to college, but i had to, the first day was always the most important, so i dragged my lazy body out of bed and headed straight for my en'suite.
I had a quick shower and dressed into a simple top and a black skirt with a pink belt to match. I blow-dried my hair and combed it down to fall around my shoulders.
I took one last glance at the mirror before heading out of my room.
The smell of burnt eggs and toast filled my nose as i walked into the kitchen and i immediately knew why. My dad was the one doing the cooking while wearing a ridiculous looking apron."Jeez dad, can you try not to burn the house?" I said, heading straight for the refrigerator.
"Ha ha very funny," he said lamely. "Daina's not feeling too well so i'm taking her breakfast to her in bed."
"Why don't you take her something that... you know... hasn't lost all its nutrients."
"Enough, stop teasing me. You can make yourself a sandwich or something, you don't have to have this you know."
"Of course not. I love you dad, but i can't eat... this... it's terrible. Worst cook of the year certainly goes to you."
"You are unbearable." he said and i smiled.
"Has Leo come already?" I asked taking out my phone to dail his number.
"No. I haven't heard his usual horn." my dad said, as he busily arranged the food on a tray
"That's strange, it's almost nine." I said while i dailed his number.
It went straight to voicemail again."I guess i'll have to take a cab."
"You can ride with me if you want." Shane piped in as he walked into the kitchen.
"And have to put up with your overly jealous girlfriend? No thank you." I said, a little more spitefully than intended.
"Well it's your lucky day because Jade has an appointment and won't be going to college with me today. But you can still take that cab if you want." He grinned.
I scoffed and rolled my eyes and kissed my dad before heading out of the kitchen. Shane right behind me.
"So your boyfriend ditched you or what?" Shane asked as he drove out of the driveway.
"You should really learn to mind your own business." i snapped.
"Hey, i was just trying to make a conversation."
I sighed deeply and dialed Leo's number. It went straight to voicemail again. I was beginning to get worried. Something might have happened to him for all i knew.
I got a mail from Ayla.
Hey girl.
I think i've got something on your mum. Don't know if it'll help but you should see it. See you in college.
Kisses.Reading the mail brought butterflies attacking my stomach. What did she find out? How does it relate to my mum?
"You okay? Looks like you've seen a ghost." Shane asked glancing at me before looking back at the road.
"I'm fine." i snapped. "Just keep your eyes on the road."
"Okay what's with you. Ever since new year you've been acting up. I've been trying to pretend not to notice, but it's really getting out of hand. What did i do this time?" he asked, sounding frustrated.
"Nothing that i'm not used to." I answered uninterestedly.
"Meaning?" he asked driving into a parking space inside the school.
