This is the first ever book I've written so please bare with me. I know there is probably hundreds of mistakes, please feel free to point them out. I want to say a massive thank you too DanielPalmerJezard for the amazing book cover he made me. Thank you for taking the time to read my first book....
For your reference if in any part of the book you see *** it means there has been a time skip. Just to avoid any confusion. The sun was shining down on my face, surely this is a promising sign. Today is the start of a new chapter in my life. I'm moving home, I've been torn away from my friends, school and life as I knew it. Everything I had grown to love and take for granted was being ripped away from me.
My life's officially over! Dramatic much!
My name is Emma Smith. I'm 16, I live in the uk and I've just left school, I was born in a little village in East Sussex, called Alfriston. It was a quiet village where everyone knew everyone. We had a small comfy home where I lived with my mum, dad and my 4 year old brother Joe.
As I said before, today is moving day. We have a new house in a new town that may as well be in the middle of no where, Ampthill. I know, I've never heard of it either but it's in Bedfordshire, which is million of miles away from East Sussex.
Nearly 3 hours, 3 stupidly long hours, that's how long the drive is going to take. Stuck in our car with my parents who I'm barely talking to in protest about the move. Yes I'm sulking, yes I'm a teenager and they've ruined my life. Sucks to be me.
It's 9am and we're leaving. I get in the back and slump in my seat whilst glaring at my mum in her vanity mirror. Mum rolls her eyes, she starts to speak but I put my headphones on, loudly. I don't wanna hear it. I watch out the window as the world whizzes past. I wish we didn't have to go.
It's 2 hours in and my stomach growls, I'm hungry. I take my earphones out, grab my phone and open a new text to my mum. Are you starving me as well as ruining my life??? I text, I hear my mums phone Ping, she looks at her screen and chuckles, dad raises his eyebrows at her.
"If you're hungry we can stop for food?" She says.
"Well obviously I'm hungry" I reply as I put my earphones back in.
We pull in to McDonald's. "What do you want little Wolfie?" dad asks as we get to the drive through counter.
"Dadddddddd really? A McChicken sandwich meal and coke pleaseeeee" I reply in sarky manner. Dad laughs while looking in the rear view mirror before turning to the counter and ordering everyone's food. We pull up in the car park and eat our food in silence, before heading off again.Eventually we pull up outside of a house. Mum turns in her seat with a massive grin "We're here" she says looking between me and Joe.
"Finally" I huff out loud.
"Just give it a chance" she says looking at me hopefully, I force a grin and look over at my brother Joe who's sparko in his booster seat. A 3 hour road trip would do that to a 4 year old, he's so lucky he's too young to understand all the upheaval.
I look up at the new house, it was huge, well compared to our old place anyway. It had newly plastered outer walls that had been painted an off white colour and an arch way going over the front door. The house is detached but within a row of other similar large stand alone houses. In front of the house is a big triangle of grass with flower beds either side of the door.
