"You might all be wondering why there was a need for a sudden meeting. Well, let me get straight to the point. Today, you're all going to be working with a partner on a specific project, I've already assigned a partner and a project for each one. I need it done by today. All of you need to start immediately once you have checked the bulletin board for your assignment and partner," Peter says.
Peter is our Manager. If you're on his good side, he can be really sweet but if you do get on his bad side, well let's just say that he can be a pain in the ass.
Before I could go check the bulletin board, he comes over.
"Looks like we're partners," he winks.God damn it! How am I ever going to control my feelings if we're going to be working together?Well it's just one day, what could possibly go wrong, right?
"Let's start working," I say.
We sit down and start working. A few hours had passed and I could feel hunger gnawing away at my stomach.
"Let's order something outside to eat," he says.
"Nah, it'll become late. We need to finish this."
"Will you just chill! I know this amazing place where we can order from."
"But I-" and before I could finish he asks, "Don't you trust me?"
"No," I say as I fold my arms.
He moves in closer and says, "I know you do."
He takes his phone out and makes a call.
"I'd like to order two chicken wraps," he says over the phone and hangs up.
"I don't like wraps."
I know this sounds crazy but I hate burgers, hot dogs and wraps.
"What do you like?" he asks.
"You should have asked that before ordering! Anyways I love pizza, pasta, spaghetti, lasagna and noodles. How about you?"
"There's a thrill in trying out something new. If I did ask, you would have just ordered the same boring food and you wouldn't experience something new. Unlike you, I eat everything."
"I love thrills but I'm not going to risk it when it comes to food. I'd rather eat the same food than try out something new and regret it."
"You love thrills?" he laughs.
"What? It's not funny!" I say giving him a glare.
"Alright. Come on let's go out on a date."
"What?"
"You love thrills, right? So come on."
"Oh. Right! Uh I would, it's just-" I say as I stutter.
"Relax. I was just kidding. Don't go around saying that you love thrills when you're not willing to take risks."
I roll my eyes and just then our food arrives.
I sit there staring at my wrap for about five minutes."Are you just going to stare at it all day? If so, then I'll have to feed you."
God damn it! Why did I feel slightly excited when he said that? I need to control myself.
"I'll eat," I say as I roll my eyes.
"That's what I thought."
I take a bite of the fried chicken mixed with mayonnaise and melted cheese. Next thing I knew, I finish it in just five minutes and that's when I realize that he has been looking at me with a smirk on his face the entire time.
This is so embarrassing and his stupid smirk is really annoying me.
"How was it?"
"Meh, it was okay."
He raises his eyebrow, giving me a look that says give up already.
"It was amazing! I loved it!" I say with a huge grin.
A smirk appears on his face again.
"Can you stop doing that? It's so annoying. I hate your stupid smirk. I swear to god I just want to wipe it off your face."
He laughs and says, "How exactly do you plan on doing that?"
I roll my eyes and say, "Let's continue with our work."
We continue to work and by the time we finish, the sky starts to become all dark and gloomy. We both didn't realize how close we were right now until we started to turn away from the screen. Our eyes meet and we both just sit there staring into each other's eyes. Usually in a situation like this, I'd move back and look away but that didn't happen this time.
My mind kept wandering what would happen if he kissed me right now, that's what usually happens in movies, right? But I know this isn't a movie and this isn't right.
What the hell is wrong with me? Why am I even having such thoughts?
Suddenly he starts to move in closer as if we weren't close enough already. My heart beat starts to become rapid as my eyes set on his lips and I close my eyes.
He brushes his lips against mine and moves back. That's when it hit me; as usual he was teasing me. He gets up immediately and starts to head towards the metro and I follow him.
The air surrounding us fills with silence.
Why did I even close my eyes? And how could he just do that and stay silent? He probably doesn't like me. Why else would he just tease me like that and stay silent? Maybe he regrets it.
Millions of thoughts keep running in my head but I remain silent. Once my stop comes, I start to leave without saying good bye.
