"The sad thing in life is that sometimes you meet someone who means a lot to you only to find out in the end it was never bound to be and you just have to let it go."
Laura's POV
I just couldn't comprehend what was going on. The only words that kept repeating itself in my head were those of Peter's
He's never coming back.
This is not how things were supposed to go, he couldn't possibly just leave me deserted without even saying a good bye.
I didn't just feel devastated but i was fuming with rage at myself. How could i have let this happen? The only one time I decide to fall in love and let my guard down has got me nothing but a broken heart.
The worst of all is the way everyone keeps looking at me, with pity.
I couldn't concentrate on my work or on anything right now. I suddenly yelp when I feel a hand on my shoulder.
Jason.
I look up at in excitement only to find Neil taking a seat beside me.
"Are you alright?" He asks with worry in his eyes.
"Yeah. I'm totally fine. Can't you guess that when you see me," I say in a sarcastic manner.
Just because you're mad at Jason doesn't mean you snap at those who care.
"I'm sorry. I just want to get out of here. Can we please go somewhere else?" I ask.
"I don't think Peter would be alright with that,"
"Screw it. I don't care," I say as i grab by bag and start to head out. Neil quickly follows.
I wave my hand at a taxi and get inside, Neil gets in with me.
"Where are we going?"
"To Jason's uncle's place?"
"I don't think that's a really good idea right now. We can go by later," he says looking tense.
I don't say anything. We both sit in silence throughout the ride.
Once, we reach I pay off the driver and ring the doorbell. Jason's aunt opens the door.
"Has Jason taken all his things with him?" I ask.
"Yes dear. He's not coming back. Didn't he tell you?"
"Of course, he did. I just wanted to know if he left anything behind."
"No dear. I'm so sorry i didn't even ask you to come inside," she says as she motions me to enter.
"I'll come some other time," I say with a smile and start to leave.
"He's not coming back. He's not coming back. I'm sick of hearing this. I swear to god if i see him right now, i'll strangle him," I yell in frustration.
"I don't think that's what you'll be doing once you see him," says Neil with an innocent face.
I glare at him and he shrugs.
"Have you tried calling him?" he asks.
"No, i'm just going around searching for him without even trying to call," I say feeling frustrated.
"Geez. I'm just trying to help. Do you want to talk about it?"
"I know. I'm sorry. No, I just want to go home. I'll see you tomorrow,"
He nods his hand and waves at a taxi, I get inside and wave him goodbye.
Once I reach home, I plop down on my bed, tears falling down on my pillow and before I know it, I was sleeping deeply.

I didn't think things could get worse after yesterday, little did i know that I had a huge surprise awaiting.
With difficulty, I try to concentrate on my work ignoring all my thoughts. I suddenly hear a voice say, "Hey baby. Want to hang out after office hours? I'll replace Jason."
It's luke, the ultimate player in our office.
I glare at him and say,"Don't call me baby and no i don't want to hang out with you jerk face. No one can replace Jason"
He laughs and says,"You're still sticking up for the guy who left you? Don't tell me you thought he was going to stick around."
"At least he isn't a player like you who uses girls and throws them away like they're your toys."
"Was that supposed to hurt my feelings? Ouch. At least, I don't pretend."
"Just shut up and leave me alone."
I sigh in relief as he leaves. Little did i know that he's not the only guy who thinks that I need company. The other girls come around to rub it off too.
Just when I get up to leave, Peter calls me to his office. I didn't notice he had been standing there for a while.
"Laura. I'm sorry to say this but this isn't working out."
Great. My day couldn't get any better, now i'm going to get fired.
"I know. I'm sorry," I sigh not knowing what else to say.
"As long as you stay here, you're not going to be able to concentrate. How about I transfer you to one of our other branches?"
Wait. I'm not getting fired.
"Oh thank you so much. I would love that. I'd like to start there from tomorrow itself," I say feeling excited.
"I didn't expect that. We need to get some formalities fine first,"
"I want to start working there immediately. You can make that happen, can't you?" I plead.
"Alright fine. I need you to come early tomorrow, get all the formalities done and then you can join there."
I nod and make my way out. With a grin on my face, I start walking towards my table. I immediately look up when i hear a voice day, "You look really happy."
"Amy!!" I squeal squeezing both her shoulders.
"Ouch. I understand that you're happy but you need to let go of me, you're hurting me."
I apologize and take my hands.
"I'm going to be working in another branch," I say.
"Really? Omg. I'm so excited and happy for you and guess what," she says with excitement.
"What?" I ask with equal excitement.
"I heard that the CEO is really hot. He has gorgeous blond hair which actually shines. Can you believe that?"
"No, I can't."
"He's also got killer eyes and they're blue. He's got a beard too," she squeals.
You've got to be kidding me. This is the last thing I want to hear right now.
"That's great. I need to get going now and i'm really going to miss you."
She continues to talk, "Do you realize how lucky you are? Forget Jason. He's nothing compared to this guy."
Or you could ignore me and go on.
The last thing I need right now is a guy.
"Oh my. Look at the time, I need to get home. I'll see you later," I say rushing away not giving her a chance to say more.
I head home and plop down on my bed falling asleep right away.
