I woke up early today; I wanted to look a little special. I throw on my white skinny jean and mild blue jean shirt. I wear a high ponytail which seems to accentuate my side bangs. I threw on my black sling bag and started to head to work. I hoped we wouldn't meet in the metro and thankfully he was nowhere in sight.
Once I reach my office, my eyes started to search for him and that's when I heard a voice call me.
"Laura, who are you looking for?" asks Amy.
"Nobody, I was just looking around!"
She starts to scan me from top to bottom and says, "You're so busy nowadays, you don't even come by and now you're hiding things."
"You were pretty busy too and what are you talking about?"
"I know that you're not the only one to blame here and oh please, you know exactly what I'm talking about."
"Alright fine. Let's meet up on Saturday at my place. I'll tell you everything then."
"Awesome! I can't wait," she says with a grin on her face.
We both head back to our desk. I start to finish up my work and head over to his desk, he was nowhere in sight the entire day. I couldn't spot him in the metro either.
It's now been two days since I've seen him. I miss him a lot, even though it's been only two days it feels as if it's been weeks and my days were starting to feel empty. I buried myself with work so that I could get my mind off him.
A few hours later, my mind started to wander about him again. I lay my head down on my desk and start to think. Just then, I hear someone clear their throat, I look up and I see him.
It can't be him! This is just an illusion; it's all in my head. I've kept having illusions like this all the time ever since he was gone. Yet, I still continue to stare.
I look at his brown hair which is slightly curly and messy. His eyebrows have a perfect arch, not being too thin or too bushy. His eyes were mesmerizing with the perfect shade of blue resembling the ocean's color and his slightly long eyelashes seemed to accentuate his eyes. Why do guys have to have long eyelashes? Like they don't even need It, why couldn't I have them instead? He had a perfect jawline, with this freshly shaven look where the beard and moustache starts to grow slightly after shaving. His lips were a slight shade of pink. Even in my imagination he had to have a smirk on his face, I love it, it's cute but I hate it at the same time. I noticed his dimple for the first time; it made him look way more handsome.
"Done?" he asks smiling, showing his dimples again.
What an idiot! I obviously can't stare at an illusion and notice everything. I could feel my cheeks burning right now.
" Huh?" I ask with an innocent face.
A smirk appears on his face once again.
"Where were you for the past two days? You didn't even bother to tell me," I say feeling slightly angry.
"You missed me, didn't you?" he winks.
"No, I didn't. I just wanted to know."
Just then his friend walks over and they both start to whisper, like I was going to eavesdrop. Then, his friend waves him goodbye and leaves.
"So?" he asks.
"So.."
He smiles and says " Listen! I've got to go finish up my pending work; I'll deal with you later,"
I smile and continue to work; It feels so good to see him again. After hours go by, he comes over and we both start to head over to the metro.
"So, did you think about what I said that day?" he asks
"Yeah! I'm sorry I should have mentioned it before you asked. I told Neil everything including the kiss; he was really sweet about it. All that he asked me was whether it meant something to me, I clearly told him that it meant nothing and that we were just caught up in the moment, so things are cool between us. He's such a nice guy."
"Yeah! Real nice," he mutters and starts to kick the ground with his shoes.
I could see the pain in his eyes, I feel really bad doing this to him but it was just for a day. I was going to tell him everything but he just disappeared and left me alone, now it was my turn to let him suffer for a day. Besides he always teases me, there's nothing wrong if I do it once.
"Did it really mean nothing to you?" he asks with pain in his voice.
"Can you not make this harder for me?" I say trying to maintain a calm voice but it turned out to be cold.
"I'm sorry, I didn't-" and before I could finish he signaled me to stop with his hand and so I did.
I know I shouldn't do this to him, I just keep hurting him but I just want to play around with him for a day. Nothing is going to happen in a day.
