Jason POV

I woke up with a huge grin on my face. I was never a morning person, I hate waking up early and it would usually take me some time to not be cranky. Everything seemed to be different today and there was only one reason why.

Laura

She's different from the others. I loved her innocence and most of all I loved spoiling it.

I brush my teeth followed by flossing and rinsing it with mouthwash.

Hygiene is very important to me.

As soon as I finish, I take a shower and stand in my room with a towel draped over by my body. I walk over to walk-in closet. I hate dumping clothes in a small closet, I need a lot of space. I scan through my clothes and take out my white shirt, black pants and black tie.

I tuck my shirt in and adjust my tie. I part my hair to one side and spray my cologne all over my body.

Smelling good is a turn on, isn't it?

Just as I pick up my car keys, my phone starts to ring playing Closer. I love that song and I could never get bored of it.

"What's up, dad?

"I didn't call you to make small talk. There's a reason why I sent you there but I think you're starting to forget that. I need you to start focusing on your work and put aside all your distractions, do you understand?"

"Yeah, I do."

By now I've learnt not to talk back. There was no point, he'd never let me finish.

"Good. Now, head to work. Punctuality is important."

Before I could say anything else, he hung up the phone. I checked my phone to see six missed calls from Laura.

Shit. I was supposed to pick her up.

I noticed a message from her.
"I waited for you at our usual spot but you weren't there and I tried calling you but your line was busy so I headed to work. I'll meet you there."

She isn't furious.

I head to my car and drive at a speed of 50 km/hr. I had an important meeting with a client and I had dressed for that, I just couldn't afford to be late.

I rush inside and notice Peter rubbing his forehead impatiently. As soon as he notices me, he walks towards me and says with annoyance, "Jason. You finally made it."

"I'm so sorry Peter. I-" and before I could finish Peter motioned me to stop with his hand.

I enter inside the conference room and notice a woman standing near the window isle gazing outside lost in her thoughts.

"Cassandra," Peter says, bringing her back to reality.

She turns around immediately and smiles at Peter with her twinkling green eyes. Her golden brown curls were hanging loose just above her shoulder.

Peter motions for Cassandra to take a seat. I and peter take a seat across from her.

"This is Jason," Peter says as he motions his hand towards me.

She stared right into my eyes, I gave her a smile.

"Since when do developers sit in meetings?" she asks without talking her eyes off me.

Why do I get a bad vibe from this girl?

"Jason's an exception," Peter says, defending me.

"How so?"

"That's none of your business," I retort.

Peter nudges me and says, "Sorry about that, he's just very straight forward."

"I can see. I liked it. I like straight forward people," she says with a mischievous smile, not once taking her eyes off me.

I thought that people usually make eye contact with the person talking. This is just so awkward.

I try to stay polite the entire time while discussing. I had a hard time staying polite and not making sarcastic remarks but I managed. Once it gets over, she stands up and says, "If I've got any doubts, how do I contact you?"

"You can come over to the office."

Peter interrupts and says, "What Jason meant was if you're unable to reach us, you can drop by the office." He hands her a visiting card.

Once she leaves I breathe out in relief. "If all our clients are like this, I'm never sitting in a meeting again."

Peter laughs and says, "Don't worry. It's just her. Not everybody is like her and at the same time there are a few clients who are like her, you've got to deal with all types of clients."

"Right," I say as I start to head over to Laura's desk.

I notice her laughing as Neil says something.

He must have made a lame joke.

I hate this guy. I hate everything about him, especially the way he looks at Laura.

Everybody knows that he's got a thing for Laura except Laura. I knew for a fact that she wouldn't believe if anybody told her that except Neil himself.

She's so innocent that she's got no clue what goes inside a guy's head. Being a guy, I know exactly what does.

I didn't notice that I was giving him a murderous look until Laura called my name and started to glare at me.

I couldn't help it.

He says," I'll see you later." and starts to leave.

"I'll see you later." I mock.

"Can you be nice to him at least once?"

"No."

She punches me slightly on my shoulder and asks,"Why are you in formals?"

"I had a meeting."

"How'd it go? Is it over?"

"It could have been worse I guess. Yeah, it is."

She holds my hand and starts to unbutton the button at the cuff. Her bangs fell on her face as she started to roll my sleeves up, I held it back. She then unbuttoned the top button of my shirt and started to loosen my tie.

"Not here, Laura," I say with a sly smile.

She rolls her eyes.

"My shirt is tucked in," I say innocently.

"It looks fine like this."

She was the one who didn't want me to look formal.

"As much as I'd love to stay, I've got to get my work finished." I sigh and head over to my desk.

Our shift was over but I was still working. I had asked Laura not to wait up.

"Dude! Are you still working?" Jackson asks as he pats my shoulder.

"Yeah. My dad called me today."

"Oh right. Have you told Laura?"

"No," I sigh, wondering how she'd react.

"Trust me, girls don't like it when you keep things from them. The sooner, the better."

Jackson is right I have to tell her but I'm afraid of how she's going to react and I just want to live in the moment for now.
