"You do realize that you're turning your back against the Templars, your father and all those left at your home."
"I never had a home until I ended up here."
"Then it is decided."
Dawn
There was no going back from this, Lynn was joining the creed and disbanding her previous life. We had all gathered at the hideout that was in the center of Florence, every assassin that was capable of being here had come as well as all the masters. The only light in the room was that of a fire that was needed in this ceremony.
"Laa shay'a waqi'un moutlaq bale kouloun moumkine. These are the words spoken by our Ancestors that lay at the heart of our creed. Were other men blindly follow the truth, remember..."
"Nothing is true."
"Where other men are limited by morality or law, remember..."
"Everything is permitted."
"We work in the dark to serve the light. We are Assassins."
"Nothing is true everything is permitted." The last sentence was for all of us and said by us all. Hearing everyone say it made my heart race sometimes since it sounded much stronger in union. Now came the painful part of the ritual, the branding.
Well painful, it used to be much worse when our hidden blade required you to have four fingers instead of five. Back then they cut off a finger while you were surrounded by everyone, if you couldn't take the pain and started to cry it would humiliating. The head master picked up the metal tongs that had been resting in the fire for a while now as Lynn extended her hand out.
They placed the tongs over her ring finger as she was probably biting her cheek open at that point. When he let go of her finger the fire was put out making the room pitch black. A door was opened that lead outside letting the moon light inside. The door lead to the roof of the building were the final step had to be taken.
One of the masters stepped forward with a roll of paper. "Your target is Carlo Ferrero, according to our spies he was last seen at the west side of the church. Your task is to eliminate and bring proof of your success."
After taking the paper and a small nod she left into the dark night, for her first killing. That was one of the things I feared to go wrong, what if she couldn't kill? Her skills have improved a lot, she learned from the best after all. Christina and Hagan trained her as well, but we weren't able to teach her how to kill. It was something she had to learn herself.
I waited until everyone else had left, especially the masters. Christina and Hagan remained as well, all three of us still wearing our hood. "They are doing it again." Christina said keeping her eyes on the door.
Hagan hummed in agreement. This wasn't the first time a former Templar joined the creed, because they were against their own believes. Non of them ever passed the ritual, it wasn't possible for a beginner to pass a foul mission. Not wanting to waste more time I decided it was time to leave. "Let's go."
Christina and Hagan both nodded as we jumped down to the center of the ritual room. If we are gonna keep giving former Templars a false exam, than we have no pride in who we are. We exited the door that just lead to the roof of our building and didn't hesitate to go down after Lynn. I threw myself off the roof landing on another roof of a lower building, Hagan closely following behind. Christina had take the leap of faith and had hit ground level much faster, just as we had planned.
Hagan and I stayed on the roofs so we had a clear vision of the streets. "Don't worry."I looked back at Hagan sudden words, he wasn't much of a speaker after all.
