Dawn
Everything seemed to go slower than it should be going. My mind counting each second as it put me more and more on edge. My eyes glanced around the room looking for something, anything really. If it were an exit or some kind of hidden script I hadn't noticed before, but there was nothing. My breathing was steady as my hand tightly gripped onto my sword, the blade read to be unsheathe.
Out of the corner of my eye I could see Christina, blade already unsheathed. Behind me I heard two familiar sounds indicating that everyone was ready to fight their way out. The click of Lynn's crossbow and unsheathing of Sky's dagger gave me courage. The only question remained was, why hadn't I unsheathed my sword yet?
What are you waiting for?
I made eye contact with Frederico Acerbi again, he was holding that terrifying grin. Like he already knew that he was going to win this, as if he was three steps ahead of us. My eyes traveled further counting his men.
twelve guards were by his side, four heavily armed and eight regulars. Something seemed off about that, what made him so sure he had already won? The more I looked around the worse it got to think.
Then I saw it, in his hands, ready to fire again. It was the same weapon as Luciano had used to strike me down. The painful memory made my hand slightly shake and my heart drop to the bottom of my stomach. I swallowed trying to shake the memories of until I felt a hand onto my shoulder.
"I'm here." I heard Lynn say as she supported her crossbow onto my shoulder after giving it a reassuring squeeze. My eyes searched the ground for a second before looking up again, giving that daring look. With a swift motion I had unsheathed my sword signalling to attack.
Frederico had no time to lift up his weapon as an arrow pierced through his right shoulder. As soon as the weight of Lynn's crossbow was off my shoulder I charged forward. I dodged every swing his guards took at me by ducking and moving swiftly to the side. One of them raised his blade, but was interrupted by my dagger inside his side as I left it hanging moving forward.
Behind me I heard swords clashing and wanted to turn around to make sure everyone was alright, but didn't. I had to finish this first and trust in them defending themselves. When I reached the top of the room I took a swing at Frederico who had pulled the bolt out of his shoulder. He was well protected by heavy armor as he simply stopped my sword with his gauntlet.
Merda.
With my sword in protect hand I let go of the weapon pushing out my hidden blade as I dug it into his side. My eyes widened as the blade broke by the thick armor protecting his full body. Before I could even pull back I was punched in the face, tumbling over onto the ground.
I let out a painful groan as I looked up seeing him approach me, smirking. As he stepped froward, I pushed myself up trying to get out of the way, but he already kicked my side. I was close to the edge of the staircase already and ended up falling down a few steps, nearing the fight happening in the main room. My side was aching as it was right near my wound, it probably had opened again.
The heavy footsteps that approached me made me open up my eyes again. This time I successfully was able to push myself up, except I didn't have a weapon. I looked down at my hand, there was no way I could just punch through his armor. Reckless attacks weren't going to do it, I had to think and come up with a plan.
Frederico lifted up his battleaxe, which was hanging on his back before. I looked up ready to dodge and as soon as he was about to strike down I moved to the side. A loud metallic noise filled the room as the axe made contact with the ground, digging in. He seemed to struggle with lifting it up again and I saw this as a chance.
