Chapter 28: Protective State

Recap: 'How did we get so lucky with her?' My wolf smirks.

'I don't think that question will ever be answered Jake'

I'm going to kill my brother if it's the last thing I do....

Jake's POV:

I storm out of my mates home, my mate following close behind.

'What if he hurts her? I will slit his fucking throat if he even tries.'

'Calm down Jake, you need to focus on the problem at hand.'

My wolf is right, we need a clear head to be able to face him, even more so, killing him. My mate looks at me slightly, worry etched into her face. She's worried because of me, great just another way I fucked up with her.

'Clear head Jake, our mate is strong​, don't ever doubt her'

I nod my head in agreement with my wolf's words. Next thing I know we are in front of the doors to the pack hospital, Blaze's scent heavy. Paige's mother rushes in front of us, frantic to find her mate. Paige grabs onto my hand, leading me into the hospital doors.

'Don't worry love, whatever it is we will go through it together​'

The sound of my mates beautiful voice etched into my brain calms my nerves heavily. We walk farther into the hospital to see my mates father talking with one of the doctors. Then suddenly he looked up at his mate, a sense of relief washing over his face. Good he's not angry... I hope. he rushes over and encloses his mate in a tight hug. Next thing you know my mate and the rest of her siblings reach in to join the family hug.

I wish my family was like this, strong and loving. I wonder how my life would have been if we would have been a normal and happy family.

I notice my mate and her family glancing over at me,my mate waving her hand towards me to her hug. I walk hesitantly over into the hug, all of their arms enclosing around me. The moment is ruined all too quickly by a loud roaring coming from somewhere outside. My mates father quicky rushes out to the commotion, along with the rest of us following behind. My stomach churns at the sight of my brother trying to fight off the two guards holding him down.

Alpha Dylan growls loudly at him, warning him to stop. Blaze freezes at the sight of the Alpha and his family close behind. His eyes trail slowly over every one of us, as if studying them. But then his eyes land on me, hate quickly growing into his eyes. He then lets out a menacing growl towards me.

"YOU!!! YOU BASTARD!" He struggles again to escape the guards hold on him.

"Didn't think I would come looking for you? Huh? You think just running away from your problems is going to fix anything? You're still a worthless little bitch, I'm surprised this Alpha dude hasn't beat the shit out you yet. Where's Cassy? The little whore finally leave your sorry ass?"

I look down, staring at my feet. I then feel a hand grasp mine, sparks on contact. I look beside at my mate, pity and worry showing into her eyes. Blake starts to chuckle.

"I'm guessing that's your lovely mate? My my, isn't she just the most gorgeous thing I have ever seen?! Ever think of going the hotter brother babe?"

I growl loudly at him, wrapping my arms protectively around her waist, her body behind me. I growl lowly once more at him.

"She's mine Blake, leave her out of this shit between us."

I begin to feel calmer at the feel of her soft hands caressing mine.

'Just kill him already, he made a move on our mate. OUR MATE!!'

'I will soon, but not now. Not while Paige and her family is here.' My wolf growls in annoyance.

Blaze shoots me one last glare before the guards drag him into the cells. I let out a heavy sigh and wrap my mate in my arms.

"Are you okay Love?"

She looks up at me, her small frame holding onto my waist.

"I'm fine Princess, lets just go home."

Nodding slightly, she beings to walk in front of me, hand in hand with me. The rest of her family already far ahead, as we goofed around while on the way back to her home.

Would it be our home? Like when we get married and have pups?

'Hopefully one day Love'

Paige sends me a quick wink towards me, her laugh filling my ears. I run towards her, lifting her up into​ my arms. The sound of her squeal making me laugh at her embarrassment.

"PUT ME DOWN JAKE!! I SWEAR TO THE MOON GODDESS I WILL KILL YOU IF YOU DON'T PUT ME DOWN!!"

"Alright alright, if you would stop screaming in my ear like a banshee I will put you down."

She glares playfully towards me, her eyes squinting at me in fustration.

"Fine I will stop screaming. Now if you could, please put me down."

I grin widely at my new accomplishment. I. Fucking. Won. Hell yes!! I put her down lightly on her feet, making sure not to hurt her. She turns around quickly and smashes her lips onto mine, roughing my hair with her hands.

"I love you Jake, and I wont ever stop loving you."

"I love you too Princess, and for the rest of my life will I protect you."

She grins at me slightly, evil showing in her face.

"Uh oh I don't think I like that look on your face. What are you up to?"

"Well I was thinking, we should go fill up water balloons and have an epic water balloon fight? You know, to kind of lighten up the mood?

"Oh hell yes, lets do this!"

She laughs loudly as I chase her into the pack house, my wolf howling with appreciation for our mate.

I know, I know. I haven't been updating lately with any of my stories, just please keep up with me. Anyways, I tried to make this chapter long for you guys and hopefully soon I can finish this book.
