Cara's POV

The battle we fought was magnificent. There were blades left, right, and centre. We were battling for just over 2 hours with the hoards of frenchmen who came our way, and I felt that my technique had improved vastly. I learned in better detail how to wield my blades so that they worked in conjunction with eachother.

We cut all of our enemies down, and sat upon the walls of the barracks, observing the carnage.

The sun cast an orange tint over the land, corpses strung everywhere. The once vibrant green grass was now stained scarlet- forever coloured with the blood of the fallen.

As I mused with myself, I heard Ezio clear his throat.

"Cara?"

"Yes, Ezio?"

"Come, let us walk." He commanded, jumping off the wall and rolling to take the pressure. He looked up at me with hopeful eyes, shoulders squared.

I mimicked his actions, smiling at him. He returned the smile, and we begun to walk.

We talked about nothing for an hour or so, before Ezio picked up on a touchy subject.

"Cara, tell me of your family." I tensed up, realising I still hadn't told him.

"W-What of them?"

"Your Father. What made him join the Assassin order?"

"It is a long story."

"I've the time to spare."

I let out a low sigh. Time to let the cat out of the bag.

"Well... As a child my Uncle ,being older, would tell my Father tales of the Assassin order. He used to love them, and had always wanted to join himself. Life was good when one day- gone. My Uncle left without a trace. He did not even leave a note. We later found out that my Uncle had ran away to join the templar order. My Father hated him for that, and so my Father went to join the Assassins at the age of 16. He was a natural, and was working his way up to take power from the Templars. My Uncle somehow caught wind of this and ordered for everyone in my family to be killed. I watched my family be killed at the age of just 11 when our house was stormed by guards, and before my Father died he gave me a key to a box by the rose bush in the garden of our house. It held some Assassin robes and blades, which he had planned to give to me on my eighteenth birthday. He didn't live to see that day, and so I was left to wait and unlock it myself. That takes us up to afew days ago, and here we are now." I explained. My story was not an interesting one, to say the least.

Ezio's expression hardened.

"Cara, tesora, what is the name of your Uncle?"

"Cesare Borgia."

The name made me wince, and his expression turned to one of hatred.

"They are still out looking for me now, even though the whole ordeal took place 7 years ago. It seems that they will not stop until I am theirs." I told him.

He deserved to know that I was a wanted lady, and that the Templars were still after me.

"I see." He replied simply.

He seemed to be pomdering something of great meaning, as he knitted his eyebrows together and stared hard into the distance.

We spent the next 20 minutes in comfortable silence, walking through countryside lanes. The trees swayed in the wind, and the ground crunched beneath my feet.

I was observing my surroundings when a bush to my right rustled ahead. Ezio was on my left, and still deep in thought and so he hadn't noticed.

I dismissed it as an animal, but was still wary of its presence.

We were just passing the bush when I felt an awful shooting pain coursing through my back, near my right shoulder blade.

Ezio looked at me with worry as I pulled the object from my back. The colour drained from his face and his mouth lay agape.

A throwing knife.

Which could only mean an ambush.

Before either of us had time to react, I felt the pain again in my lower back, and again below the nape of my neck.

I felt weak from blood loss, as I fell to the floor. I coughed up some blood onto the road and saw Ezio in deep combat with some men I did not recognise.

That was the last thing I saw before surrendering to the darkness.
