Ezio's POV

My eyes blurred as I awoke from what felt like the deepest sleep of my entire life. I sat up, and tried to ignore the pounding in my head.

Uncle Mario.

He was dead. It hit me like a ton of steel. He had been killed by Cesarè Borgia and I wanted nothing more than to watch that man beg for his life at the end of my blade. He would pay, and I made that a promise to myself.

Cara.

Where was she? I know she was there when I fainted, but where was she now? And how did I get here? From what I could tell, I was at the Tiber Island hideout. I wonder who bought me here...

"Ezio?" Cara appeared at the doorway, and she was looking at me with an expression of joy and confusion.

"C-Cara?" I managed to croak out, despite my throat feeling dry and rough.

"How are you feeling?" She asked softly, coming to sit next to me.

"What happened?"I asked, completely ignoring her question.

"Your Uncle Mario... He was shot and you passed out." It hurt even more hearing someone else say it. Like it was confirmation that he really wasn't ever

going to come back.

"What of Cesare?"

"Soon scared him off, but I didn't kill him."

A sudden rage built up inside of me. She had the opportunity to kill the man, and she just let him get away? After he killed my own Uncle?

"What?!"I shouted, getting up.

She just looked at me, completely dumbfounded and confused at my outburst. She looked quite scared of me.

"How could you do that? Not kill the man when you had the chance? How could you be so stupid Cara? I thought you were smarter than that!"

I gestured wildly with my hands to express my anger.

Cara's face suddenly twisted in emotion, and she stood up, squaring up to me despite the height difference.

"Ezio, you're being ridiculous! I didn't kill the man because we need answers from him! We need to know his motives, future plans, closest allies. Could we know this if he was dead? No! I do these things for a reason Ezio, I'm not stupid!"

She shoved my chest, and I stumbled backward a little bit, surprised at her strength.

I all of a sudden felt extremely bad for what I had just said. Her actions were justified, and there was no cause for me to have said what I did.

I reached out a hand to hold her shoulder, but she just grabbed my wrist and stopped me before I could get anywhere near her.

"Do not touch me."

"Cara, I-"

"I'm going out." She begun storming away, in the direction of the stables.

"What?"

"I SAID, IM GOING OUT! DO YOU NOT LISTEN?" She howled at me, mounting a horse. I watched as she rode into the distance, in what looked like the road back to Monteriggioni.

My heart ached, and I really wanted to go after her. However, I knew that what she really needed right now was to let off some steam.

And so, I let her go.
