It doesn't even feel like two weeks have passed. It's amazing how fast time pass when you're making money. Having a lot of cousins is tiring but it really pays off. Literally. Once Aunt Elizabeth paid me twenty dollars for watching Elliot for two hours while she went to a meeting with Kaiden and Kaylen's teacher and then grocery shopping.
It wasn't bad either, watching Elliot I mean. He was asleep most of the time and I only had to change his diaper once. It's been so long since I've changed a diaper, good thing it was only pee.
Anyways, I like it here. Sometimes I miss the sound of cars driving and horns beeping, but the quiet is much more soothing. Well, it's not like I can get much quiet during the day. There is always someone running around and making noise.
My things finally arrived, Jake's too. Aunt Elizabeth unpacked everything because when I went up to my room that Tuesday after school, all of my things were set up and organized. My violin, keyboard, and guitars were there in my room set up on their stands. All of my clothes and shoes were unpacked and into their right places. That Wednesday was the first day that I got to wear what I wanted and not what Elilah told me to wear. It felt amazing wearing my old clothes again.
I started to teach Emmanuel how to play guitar. He's learning fast. I also start teaching Mrs.Stella's son Friday after school. Wait, I'm going to have to move it to Saturday because volleyball tryouts are Friday after school.
Yes, you heard me right. I'm trying out for the volleyball team. Volleyball has always been the one sport I was good at. I played volleyball for Rutherford Hayes High School back in New York and Coach Foster thinks I should play for the team here. So does Anthony.
"I'm serious, Jamie. You should tryout for volleyball." Anthony said walking with me to the gym. PE was our last period of the day. "If it helps, I'll go with you."
I looked at him. "You're going to tryout with me?"
"No," He laughed, "I'll just go with you to show some support. Volleyball really isn't my sport."
"What is your sport?" I asked. I stopped to look at my reflection in the window of the gym door. My ponytail looked crooked so I took it out and redid it. My hair wasn't curly anymore. I've been meaning to ask Elilah if she could redo it but I kept forgetting.
When I was done Anthony opened the door and said, "Baseball. Baseball is my sport. It was my dad's all through high school and college, and now it's mine."
I smiled, "That's cool. My dad wasn't a big fan of baseball, mainly because he didn't know how to play it. But with football, that's a whole different story. Whenever a game was on, him and his friends would gather around the TV in the living room screaming what to do and what not to do at the screen. My mom and her friends would be in the kitchen cooking things and talking about whatever it is that moms talk about."
We walked over to the bleachers and sat down waiting for Coach Foster to come and tell us to get in our lines.
I sat cross-legged and turned towards Anthony. "I would always find a way to get out of the house. I would just go hang out with Marc until everyone left my house."
"Who's Marc? Your boyfriend?" Anthony asked wiggling his eyebrows.
I laughed, "No, he's one of my friends. Anyways, I think I will tryout for the team. I liked it so much back in New York, I'm sure I'm gonna like it here."
"Like what here?" Ashleigh asked sitting down next to us.
"Jamie is going to tryout for the volleyball team." Anthony said.
Ashleigh smiled and said, "I'm trying out for volleyball, too."
"So now you'll know somebody on the team." Anthony said to me.
