*Beep...Beep* I woke up to the slow, steady pace of something beeping. *Beep...Beep* Where am I? I opened my eyes to find myself in a hospital room. I was laying on one of the hospital beds with needles going in my arms. What happened to me? Why am I here? I feel perfectly fine. I want to go home. I hate hospitals.
I sat up straight. I was still in my light blue dress that I wore to school. SCHOOL! Aren't I supposed to be in school? I remember getting up this morning, then going to school and going to my first three classes, then we went to lunch. I was sitting with Elilah and Nathan and some if their friends.
Then it all came back to me. Savannah was giving out some cookies that her mom made and they had peanut butter in them. I'm allergic to peanuts. I had a allergic reaction. It would have probably been smart if I asked what was in the cookies before I ate them. But like I've been saying, I've never been a new student so therefore I never had to explain to people my life.
I looked up at the black and white clock that was hanging on the wall above a glass window that showed into the hallway. It was two forty-five. It's been about two hours since I passed out. But if it's been that long since I've been here, shouldn't Aunt Elizabeth or Uncle Larry be here by now?
Outside the glass window were doctors and nurses walking around trying to get to their destinations. One nurse was coming in my direction. She walked into the room and wasted no time to talk, "You're awake. You've been out for almost two hours now. Do you remember what happened to you?"
Usually people would start a conversation with a "Hello" and a "My name is" but she went right to business. "Yes," I said answering her question, "Long story short, I ate something that had peanut butter in it but I'm allergic to peanuts."
"Correct. Now I'm going to ask you a very serious and important question and I want you to answer it honestly, okay?" She said, the smile fading off her face. I nodded my head then she continued, "Did you eat it purposefully knowing that it had peanut butter in it and knowing what peanuts would do to you?"
I blinked. Did I just hear what I thought I just heard? Because what I just heard was a nurse suggesting that I attempted to kill myself. Why the bacon would she think that. I'm not suicidal, I never was and I never will be. "What? You think I tried to kill myself? Why would you think that?"
She pushed her short, blonde hair behind her ear. "Well, because your parents just recently died and we thought maybe you tried-"
"Stop talking. Please stop talking." I said cutting her off. "I did not try to kill myself. It was an accident. Today was my first day at Rosewood High, and my new friends didn't know I was allergic to peanuts. One of them was passing out cookies that her mom made and I wanted to try one. I forgot to ask what was in the cookies before I ate them. Do you believe me or do you still think I tried to kill myself?"
