It's the first day of no school. The Christmas break starting. Bradley was finally home, Connor had found some woman that kept his attention, and Tristan was due home any day. Liam sat at the kitchen table with his knees to his chest as he and Bradley watched the news whilst eating breakfast. It was quiet for the most part until a thick voice invaded it. The voice caused both boys to make eye contact, "I specially said no meat. We have vegans attending the party and I don't need their 'saving animals' shit. So make a substitute. Don't ask me for suggestions you're the one getting paid for this," Louis continues to chat as he enters the kitchen without greeting Bradley or Liam who stare at him weirdly. What was Louis doing? His kids never saw him unless it was a holiday or the anniversary.
"Can someone please turn that garbage off? I don't want to hear it this early." Louis complains grabbing a mug down, Bradley sighs changing the channel as Liam stays still in his place. He saw both his parents in the span of one week. That had to be a record. "Thank you Dear, welcome home." Smiling warmly at his eldest son, Bradley nodded, "Feels good to be home." Louis fills his mug standing with his back against the counter staring out the window. Liam's eyes don't leave his Papa in fear that he'll disappear. Also, Liam is tracing every detail. The last time he saw Louis face to face was three weeks ago. Each time Liam got to be in the same room as Louis he felt special. Both his parents were important people, but Louis made everyone around him feel equal yet at the same time let them know they weren't more to him than the gum on the pavement. Expect for his kids. Of course.
It was silent once again, Bradley rising from his chair placing his dish in the sink. "Your father tells me he caught you wondering last night." Louis inquires an eyebrow raised, Liam nodded a blush noticeable on his pale cheeks, "Y-yes sir." Not meeting the earthy eyes, "Liam? Head up when you're speaking to me." Lifting it, Liam kept his eyes downcast, "Come away from the window, vultures are always waiting." Louis commands, Liam feels tears well in his eyes, "Papa?"
"What is it Liam?"
"What a-are you doing today?" Louis grows a weird look at the question, "I am speaking on a show today."
"C-can I come?"
"Liam, darling, you know I'd love for you too," Hearing this Liam nods leaving quickly before Louis could chastise him for crying.
Liam knew Louis had left, he was once again alone in the house. Other than the servants.
"Angela?" Liam calls, "Yes, Mr.Liam?"
"Can we put a tree up today?" The woman gives a sad smile, "Mr.Liam you know I have no control over that decoration." The boy sighed, "worth a shot." Anglea nodded continuing her work, Liam digging his phone out to call his friend Niall.
Rushing down the stairs, Liam grins as the door is opened revealing the tow headed boy with bright blue eyes and Irish charm, "Niall!" Liam squeals embracing the teen in a hug, "Lee you always act like it's been years. Only saw you yesterday." Niall chuckles, "I'm just that lonely at times." Liam responds leading Niall to the den. The Den is a place specially made for Liam. His older brothers entered a time or Two, but they all had different hopes and dreams that kept them from playing video games or watching movies until the early hours. Though Liam had no plans for his future yet. He was sure his parents would force him to stay at home, "closer to your doctors." Louis said to him once when Liam gained enough courage to ask to spend the night at Niall's house. The blonde boy was always invited over, Liam only left the house for school and if his parents took him anywhere.
"Where's Louis today?" Niall asks kicking back on the couch, "Says he's speaking on a show." Liam replies bitterly, "and daddy dearest?"
"God knows where that man is." Niall understands Liam's lonely, he knows just how much it hurts him that he never sees his parents; though often likes to ask about them. It's always been a way to get a real response from Liam. He's very closed off, Niall's learned, you just have to ask the right question to get the right answer. "Well my mum says hi."
"Did she come?" Liam questions glancing away from the DVD shelf, "No, Paul drove me here." Even though it wasn't his mother, Liam did love Maura, Niall's mom, she made him feel like he was one of her own. "C'mon Lj lighten up, play a movie." Liam smiled at the nickname grabbing Love Actually, "Why do you own this?"
"Have you met my Papa? He loves it." Liam mumbles pressing play, "Please tell me I'm not going to have to suffer through this just so you feel close to him." Niall groans, "Ni it's a good movie." Liam assures laying his head on Niall's lap having his hair played with.
Halfway into the movie, the front door is opened alerting Liam who jumps from his spot. "Maybe it's dad!"
"Calm your tits loser James, it's me." Connor growled annoyed his younger brother was even thinking it could be their father.
"You honestly thought he was home?" Liam sighed hanging his head, "I saw him last night." Connor nodded, "We all did. Who do you think tucked you in?" Liam smiled at that, "That's sweet. Thanks Con-, why are you laughing?"
"You're such an idiot. The man hardly knows you and yet you continue to put both of our parents on such a pedestal! They suck Liam! Harry and Louis both forget about us." Connor snarled exiting with a huff. Niall sat with pursed lips watching Liam crumple back onto the couch with tears in his eyes, "I-its not true."
"Lee, they're not here." Niall points out his hand reaching out to grasp Liam's bicep, "B-but,"
"They aren't here Liam." He repeats, Liam nodding as he pulls Niall into another hug crying on his shoulder.
