As always the Styles house was quiet. Fifteen days until Christmas, and still no tree. Seeing Rose stirring something in a pot, Liam smiles at her hopping on the counter top, "Get off there boy, your papa would kill you."

"'S not like he's here." Liam grumbles seeing Rose's face fall at the comment, "I know." Every servant at the house knew how much it hurt The boys that their parents were never there. Only every other child had a nanny they called too when upset. Louis and Harry gave Liam nothing. Just the false hope that they'd show up and love him.
"Have you seen them?" Liam asks picking at his sweater, "Last night I saw your dad, he was leaving for the airport."
"Where was he going?" Rose sighs with a smile, "You think that man tells me anything?" Liam smirked, "He hasn't told me either." The two laughed glancing towards the door, "Tell me why there isn't a tree up?!" Tristan called his bag hitting the hardwood, "The servants haven't put it up yet." Another voice replied frightening Liam and Rose. Following Tristan was Harry in a black petty coat with his scarf on a tint of red on his cheeks from the wind, "Liam come off the counter." Harry commands his looks hardening, "Y-yessir." Liam mumbles keeping his head down, "Rose fix Tristan something to eat I'm sure he's starved. Liam go find someone to put up the damn tree." The boys sighs at the order raising his head to see Harry's face he never got to fully remember, "I-I was th-thinking we all could p-put it up, sir." Harry grows a weird expression, his emerald eyes shocked that Liam had even spoke something other than a yes or no. Tristan notices the tension glancing behind him to see Harry with a strained look, his lips are thinly shut pressing together as if to keep words in. Finally he exhales quickly almost in a laughing way, "I don't believe I asked what you were thinking." Liam's face drops his shoulders slumping, Rose turns towards the stove praying for God to keep her quiet. "Instead I demanded you do something, if you don't that's disobeying which warrants a belting. Would you like that instead?" Liam shook his head at his fathers words although the crazy part was that Liam almost agreed. At least if he was belted than his dad would be paying attention to him. "Liam, go." Tristan commands his face sympathetic for his youngest brother. It wasn't his fault he had shitty parents.

Liam's sat on the couch watching the servants put up the tree, he's holding onto a picture from sixteen years ago, Louis' baby bump on show as he grins with Harry's arms around him. All his older brothers are next to the parents each one with their own grin. Liam likes the picture, it reminds him that at one time things were perfect. Connor actually smiled at one point in his life. "Dads gone." Tristan calls entering the room, "I'm not surprised." Liam returns not moving from his spot, "You know, you act a lot like Papa." Tristan remarks sitting next to Liam, "He always used to pout, he'd get so mad if Dad wasn't paying attention to him."

"So you're saying that at one point in time they were in the same room together?" Tristan chuckles raising an eyebrow, "Yes, smart-ass, I am." Liam giggles too, setting the picture frame down on Tristan's lap, "Tell me about James." Liam begs his brown puppy eyes pleading, Tristan sighs with a frown as he too looks at the picture. Wrapping an arm around the couch he pulls Liam closer, "We all looked up to him."

"But you were older."

"Age is just a number, Lee." Liam nods at the statement laying his head on Tristan's shoulder having his forehead kissed. "I think even Papa envied him. James was always so happy, full of life. You know, all those things people say whenever someone dies."

"What did Papa say when you wanted to join the army?" Liam questions, Tristan swallows hard, the hair on his arm standing up as he tenses. His eyebrows lower as he hardens his look, "He called me an idiot. Said he's not throwing another funeral." Liam gasped at the words shooting up to look at Tristan clearly, "H-he didn't, he woul-,"

"Wouldn't? He would, and did. Life isn't as great as you think it is Liam. Louis was pissed at me when I joined, he wouldn't even talk to me. I wrote him letters, tried to get his attention, nothing." Liam let his eyes close at the harsh words that were laced with venom. Tristan always had a way when telling a story. Laying back on his chest, Liam continued to watch the tree Be covered with garland and lights. The one picture rested on Tristan's lap still, Louis' grin towards the camera bringing more tears to Liam's eyes. Louis' hand rested on Tristan's shoulder, Harry having his arms wrapped around Conor and James. Bradley was behind Louis hugging his bump. It was a perfect family. Than Liam came into the world.
