Tristan sighed from his spot on the couch, he sat with his knees tucked under him as he read a book about physics. His youngest brother Liam was in the den watching movies that he had invited Tristan too, but the man declined. He didn't enjoy movies much, Tristan preferred real life endings and scenarios. Not the typical Hallmark cliché ones.
"What's with you?" Connor asked sitting across from him, "This guy named Newton." Tristan muttered his eyebrows furrowed as he read intently, "Has laws or something?"
"That's the bastard." Connor chuckled with his older brother, "Wheres loser James?"
"His name is Liam, in the den." Tristan remarked locking eyes with the younger one, "What are you doing home?"
"Just doesn't feel right." Connor admitted, "What doesn't feel right?" Tristan asked raising an eyebrow, "Christmas this year. I can hardly believe it's this time of year again." Connor admitted toeing at the rug with his converse, "I know what you mean."
"You don't Tristan, you don't. You haven't been here, you don't see what Liam and I see," Connor started rising from his chair with a cross look, "Harry and Louis aren't the same. I-it's almost as if-,"
"As if what?"
"Like they hate each other too." Both men hung their head at the statement, each knowing a bit of it was true. Neither parents had ever fought in front of the children. Instead the memories the children have of their fathers together was quite happy. Filled with laughs, hugs, and kisses. "Papa doesn't even have dad's number." Connor confessed his voice no higher than a whisper as tears came to his eyes. Tristan watched with a defeated expression, both turning to glance at Bradley who entered with a tired sigh. "I'm leaving."
