"How dare he," Louis snarls pitching a newly folded basket of clothes to the ground. Harry sighs watching his husband with crossed arms and a judgemental look etched on his features, "He thinks we're weak, Harry. T-that we're weak parents."
"He thinks we're shit parents." Harry counters shaking his head, Louis cries bowing his head, "I never meant to be." The older one nods pulling Louis in for a hug kissing his head, "We have to know our boundaries, or we'll lose him." Harry reminds, Louis sniffles glancing at the framed picture on his dresser, it had everyone in it, asides from James. Liam sat on Harry's lap grinning widely, Connor on Louis', Tristan and Bradley standing behind the parents sticking their tongues out. "I-I think we already have," Whispering the last part, Louis buries himself in Harry's chest feeling at ease.
The time the two had not only lost with their children, but themselves. Losing James was hard but did it really affect their relationship so greatly that it ruined their marriage, and just about every relationship with their kids?
"Holy shit kid, you're really gonna make Papa break one of these days-"
"Get out," Liam growls towards Connor. The older one's face falls, "W-what?"
"I said Get out," He repeats rising from his bed, his eyes sending daggers to the brother, "L-Lee-"
"Might as well say "Loser James", because that's all I'll ever be, isn't it? I'll only ever be the second best brother to fucking James. Say it, Connor! Say it!" Connor stands with his eyebrows furrowed, tears pricked his eyes as a burning lump in his throat stunned him from speaking, "Get out of here, Get out of this fucking house if you're so unhappy. You were going to leave anyway, why did I ever think that we could be close? I hurt everyone that knows me, in fact, I remember that Papa couldn't even hold me without thinking of James-"
"Liam, that's not true. T-that's not true-"
"I don't believe you. I don't even know you anymore. What purpose did it serve to tell them that Zayn was here?" Crossing his arms to show no friendly gestures in the conversation, Connor frowns at such an off-putting vibe from the sweet and innocent Liam, "I-I don't know, I-I, I don't like him-"
"You don't know him!" Liam exclaims, "I know enough." Connor snaps, "You think your tattooed boyfriend is angelic?"
"Considering no one in my family lives an angelic life I figured he'd fit in fine." Liam retorts narrowing his glare, Connor scoffs, "Reall Funny smart ass."
"Why aren't you gone yet? Christmas is over, leave."
"Maybe I was staying for you." Liam rolls his eyes smirking, "Right, stay for me? Rich, well, now you don't have to. Didn't you hear? Papa and Dad said they'd be here now." Connor nods slowly, "What you've always wanted."
"Yep." Turning his back to his brother, Connor sighs taking that as Liam's polite way of telling him to leave again, "Liam, I'm sorry I told Louis and Harry."
"No you're not," Liam accuses, "But thanks."
Rose filled the two wine glasses on the table with the best wine she could, plating the chicken she had prepared, each piece of silverware polished to use as a mirror if needed. The folded napkins made Louis smile as he wine-drunk laughed taking his seat, "Where are the boys?" He asks sending Rose a friendly smile, "I'll get them, sir." Rose assures knowing in her heart she couldn't bring herself to Hate Louis. Yes, he was a shit parent, but the lousy excuse that he left his movie to come home for Christmas did show something about him.
Harry passed her on the way to the dining room himself, Liam following him with a numb expression, "Where's your brother?" Rose asks softly, Liam glancing over his shoulder, "Dead hopefully-"
"Liam!" Harry scolds slapping his son across the face, "Get your ass to the table." Rose's eyes widen, she's yet to see Liam so bitter, and Harry so angry towards Liam. Sure the man could be an asshole, but hitting the face? That warranted anger.
"In no way is that an "okay" remark." Harry growls his emerald stare not letting up, fire roaring in his eyes as he took the seat at the head of the table, "I never thought it would be." Liam states plainly, "Liam baby please don't." Louis begs softly reaching over to grab his hand, Liam jerks it away seeing Connor enter the room, "You're drunk." Louis giggles covering his mouth with his dainty hand, "Well, you know what they say." Louis laughs again waving his hand in the air, "Why be sober when your problems go away with a little wine?" Harry smiles kissing Louis' cheek, "That's right dear."
"Of course you condone this." Connor sneers, "Step off your pedestal, you're no better." Liam jeers angrily, Connor glares at him, "Enough both of you." Liam scoffs sitting back with his arms crossed, "Why don't you slap his face?"
"D-did you slap his face?" Louis asks his features creased with worry, Harry sighs, "Damn it, Liam-"
"No Dad it's okay, Papa called me a "Fuck up." So I guess both my parents hate me."
Drunk Louis and Sober Harry both gasped shooting looks at each other, "Oh, and Connor slept with Niall." Liam adds before walking away.
