"What!? " I asked somewhat confused
"You heard me Karla, gusto kong sirain mo yung buhay ng anak ni Mr. Hermosa" sabi ni Henry. Narinig ko naman pero hindi ko maintindihan kung bakit nadamay si Lauren sa trabaho nya. Hindi ko kayang gawin yun!! I like the girl so much.
"Ayoko, kaibigan ko si Lauren. At hindi ko rin magagawang manira ng buhay ng ibang tao. Kung gusto mo ikaw ang gumawa ng paraan para magalit sayo si Mr.Hermosa! I don't want to get involved with your self-centered attitude " I said as I turned around to walk away. But he grab my hand and turned me to face him.
"You can and you will! " nanggigigil na sabi nya.
"What makes you think I can? "
"Because if you don't, iiwanan ko ang Mommy mo! " pagbabanta nya.
Then iwanan nya, that's favorable on my part.
"You can leave, hindi kita pipigilan" sabi kong nakangiti.
"I'll leave and take all my properties with me, this house, the cars including yours. And I will stop paying for your school. I'm not sure if you can survive a day without my money! " he said grinning.
My smile faded. Tama sya, lahat ng karangyaang nararanasan namin ngayon ay dahil sa kanya. He bought my car nung bagong kasal palang sila ni Mommy. Syempre mabait pa sya nun. Kailangan nyang magpaimpress. He bought the house dito sa El Molino dahil nandito ang office nya. He pays for my school fees dito sa pinakamahal na paaralan sa lugar nato. Nangyari yan nung baguhan palang sila ni Mommy. Hindi naman kami mahirap nung namatay si Daddy, kaso si Mommy hindi makapagtrabaho ng maayos kaya natanggal sya sa trabaho. Lahat ng ipon nya ni Daddy naipangbayad sa mga bayarin hanggang sa maubos. Pero nakilala nya si Henry which we thought was a blessing from God. And was actually the other way around. I remembered Mom offered to look for a job pero hindi sya pinayagan ni Henry saying na sya ang "Padre de Pamilya".
"You wouldn't dare! " I snapped at him
"I will! With my money, I can get any women I want. Maswerte ka kasi yung nanay mo ang napili ko. Pano nalang kung hindi ko sya nakita sa park na umiiyak. Nandito ka kaya? Nandito kaya kayo ngayon? O baka nasa kalsada na kayo natutulog. Madali lang naman pinapagawa ko e. Just ruin his daughter's life." pagmamayabang nya.
"I can't! Lauren is a very special friend. I don't want to lose her"
"You have a lot of friends and there's a lot of people who wants to be friends with you! It will not hurt if you get rid one of em. "
"It will, hindi ko gusto ang manira ng buhay ng ibang tao. Hindi ako katulad mo na sarili lang ang inii-" I was interrupted by a excruciating pain of his hand landing on my face.
"You will do what I said or else! Maawa ka sa Mommy mo Karla! Hindi ako magdadalawang isip na iwan kayo sa kalsada!" sigaw nya sa muka ko.
I touched the part of my face that was slapped. I can still feel that hotness from the impact. It's like almost losing a teeth from the hardness of his hand. I felt my tears are threatening to burst but I held it back not wanting to look weak in front him.
"I..... I'll think of a way to do it.. Don't rush me. It's not that easy" I gave in. Wala naman akong magagawa. Kapag hindi ko to ginawa mawawala lahat sa amin. Hindi ko kayang makitang nahihirapan si Mommy, nakita ko na dati yung nangyari sa kanya kaya as long as I can obviate it from happening again, I will.
He smiled, feeling his victory. I swear I'm going to regret this....
And I did, I regretted everything. Kapag naalala ko na wala akong nagawa para hindi mangyari yun nagagalit ako sa sarili. Lauren is so special to me. I have a crush on her for so long. Ever since nakita ko sya. Crush ko na sya. Dumagdag pa ang pagiging straight A student nya. Sayang lang cause she doesn't want coupling with any clubs. It'll be fun watching her joining some contest. Hindi sya kasikatan pero hindi rin naman sya binabawela. She's a part of the norm. Magaling rin sya sa Arts. God, I love all her works! Like it was made by a pro! Kaya hindi ako makakapayag na itapon itong mga canvas nya. Saving them is the least I can do para makabawe sa kanya. Well, I guess so.
"Can I help? " I asked my teacher
She looked at me confused. "But you have cheering practice right? "
"Yeah, I can ask my coach to skip a couple of days to help you with this" paliwanag ko habang naglalakad papunta sa isang paintings ni Lauren. The first canvas she made. The one with the women who's painting a beautiful view. It's perfect.
"Are you sure? You don't mind? " she asked again.
I grab the canvas "Uhuh, I don't mind as long as I can keep this. Can I have it? " tanong ko.
Nginitian naman ako ni Ma'am. "Sayo nayan. And thank you for letting me used your time"
"Your welcome and thanks as well"
It's almost sunset. The school is over. Sinabayan ko na si Ma'am pumunta sa parking lot.
"Goodbye Ma'am, safe trip" as said as we part our ways.
"Goodbye Miss Rosales, and keep safe " sagot nya.
Pumunta na ako sa sasakyan kong bagong gawa . Thanks to Lauren. Ugh, Lauren. Why do God made you seemed to be so perfect? I enter the car, stayed their for a minute. Mesmerized by the canvas I'm looking beside me. Ilalagay ko to sa kwarto ko. Para lagi kong naalala yung unang beses na nagkaroon ako ng lakas ng loob akong kausapin sya.
After I think less than an hour, nagdecide na ako umuwi, sana wala sa bahay yung bakulaw na yon! Makakasira lang ng araw namin.
