Chapter 27:I looked at Corey with wide eyes as I trailed my fingernails nervously along the edge of the envelope. The thin paper weightlessly pressed into my hands as I looked over the envelope.
"Okay, 3...2...1, GO!" Corey said before we quickly ripped open our identical envelopes. I pulled out the bone china white piece of paper and scanned my eyes over the black text that blotted the page.
"What did you get?" Corey asked which made me turn on my stool to face him and looked up at his smiling face. His brown eyes glinted with anticipation as he looked down at me.
"A," a wide grin stretched across my lips as I said this. Corey smiled proudly at me.
"What about you?"
"A*," he said shyly which made my smile grow even bigger and quickly wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him in for a hug.
"Well done! I knew you would get an A*!"
Corey chuckled and looked into my eyes when I settled back into the stool.
"And it's all thanks to you."
I smiled and my heart swelled in my chest,"your inspiration."
"I think this requires a celebration," he said after a couple of moments of deliberation.
"And what's that?" I bit my lip as Corey held my hands in between our legs.
"Mum's been asking when you'll come over again..."
I cocked an eyebrow at him with a small smile.
"How does Friday night sound?"
"Brilliant. Does she know we are dating again?"
"Yeah she went crazy when she found out. She wouldn't stop talking about it for the whole evening," he chuckled which made me laugh as I imagined Emily bounding around her kitchen with Corey frowning and Luke laughing.

"Mum," I looked up from my plate," I've been invited to Corey's for dinner on Friday."
Her eyes widened as a smile burst across her face,"of course you can! I'll drop you off so I can meet his mum."
My eyes widened slightly as I realised the two most excitable women I know are going to be in the same room.
"Okay. I think you will like her."
"Why's that?"
"You'll see," I looked back down at my plate as I started to eat again.

We pulled up outside Corey's house just as the clock turned to seven. The Sun had just started to set and its light sparkled through the oak tree's leaves, scattering speckled shadows across the outside wall of the farmhouse.
We climbed out of the car and walked up to the front door. I nervously looked down at my hands as they bunched at the navy blue fabric of my dress. I can't believe mum made me wear a dress!
I looked up just as the front door opened to reveal the bright smile that was Emily.
"Ash! So glad you could make it!" She pulled me into a enthusiastic hug before pulling back and looking at my at arms length," your dress is beautiful."
"Thank you," I blushed as my eyes quickly scanned the room behind her for Corey.
"And you must be the wonderful person who created Ash. I'm Emily, Corey's mother," Emily smiled at my mum who smiled back.
