Chapter 6:

BEEP..BEEP...BEEP...

I turned over in my bed burying my face in my pillow as my dirty blonde hair fell around my head.

BEEP...BEEP...BEEP...

"Ugh!"

Swatting my hand around to find the alarm, I nocked my glasses off the bedside table, making me freeze and look at the floor.

Please please don't be scratched!

As I peaked down at the floor holding my breath, I stretched out picking up my glasses. Cradling then carefully in my hands as I looked over them.

"Yes!" I said as I did a little happy dance before putting them on and finally turning the alarm off.

After getting dressed and having breakfast, I put my bag on my back and headed towards the front door.

As I left the house I was greeted by a cool breeze. Pulling the sleeves down over my fingers I walked towards the bus stop, imagining how the girls would react when I see them. Bearing in mind I didn't answer any of their texts last night.

When the bus finally arrived I climbed onto the old bus, which it had clearly been decommissioned from public transport because it was so run down. When I had sat down I turned on my music and looked out the window as I tapped away on my phone like I was playing the drums and every now and then I would play the lead guitar on the back of my phone in time with the music.

When I arrived at school I headed over to our usual meeting point on one of the benches at the front of the school. And as expected I was bombarded with questions the second someone saw me.

"What happened last night?" Casey asked as she was the first to notice my arrival.

"Why didn't you answer my texts I got really worried, like he had kidnapped you or something!" Ariana exclaimed while Katie added,"yeah not cool," with a disappointed look on her face.

"I have to share a room with her and she was freaking out all night! I got next to no sleep!"

"Hey, I wasn't freaking out I was just worried!"

"Anyway," Hattie interrupted,"what happened to you?"

Sitting down I said,"Nothing I just got really tired so I went to bed when we got back."

A chorus of murmurs erupted round the table.

"Ok that's believable but what happened before that?" Casey asked. "Full story don't miss anything out."

"Well basically he picked me up at 6 and we drove to the countryside where we ended up on top of this hill just as the Sun was setting," a couple of 'awes' escaped from the group as I carried on.

"Then we just chatted, he told me this funny story about his brother and then when it got dark he drove me home."

"Hmm... you're not telling us something,"Katie accused.

"Spill,"Ariana added glaring at me.

"That's all that happened nothing else."

"Nope don't believe you."

"Ugh, do you want me to come up with some elaborate scheme about how we nearly kissed or the truth!"

"Ok never mind, I guess you are telling the truth," Ariana said while exchanging a glance with Katie.

Great they don't believe me.

At that moment the bell rang indicating that we need to head to registration. As we all stood and collected our things Hattie gave me a suspicious look. This only confirmed that she would interrogate me in maths about last night. Great!

After Katie and Hattie had parted ways with us, we arrived at our form room to be greeted by Josh.

"So how was your date last night?" Josh asked me, a smirk playing on his lips.

"It wasn't a date."

"I find that every hard to believe after what Corey told me..."

"What! What did he tell you?" I said in supprise as Josh chuckled to himself.

As the pieces came together like a puzzle I asked," he didn't tell you anything did he?" And with that he erupted into fits of laughter only conforming my suspicions, as I felt Ariana and Casey's gazes on me.

------------------------

After a long three hours of school I was rewarded with even more boredom in the form of maths and a suspisious Hattie.

"We need to talk."

Sighing as I sat down next to Hattie," ok get on with it I know what you are going to say any way."

"What really happened yesterday? I know you are not telling the truth," she said whilst narrowing her eyes at me. Why does she always have to be so good at detecting when I'm lying?

"Exactly what I told you earlier," I replied with as much confidence as I could muster.

Holding my gaze she said,"I'm not dropping this until you tell me what happened."

"Nothing I already told you what happened."

"Ash..."

"Look if you keep on talking we are going to get are asses thrown in detention before you can say cheesepuffs,"I whispered as Mrs Baker started to look in our direction, which seemed to stop Hattie's accusations for now.

As the lesson rolled on Hattie didn't bother me again with the topic of last night which I was very greatful for, as I didn't have any idea what to say.

Looking over at Corey I saw his face was covered in concentration as he tried to solve one of the questions on the board. Chewing his lip slightly as he wrote something down.

He looks so cute like that...

Somehow sensing I was looking at him, he turned around and gave me a small smile. A blush rose on my cheeks as I bit my lips and turned away, only to find Hattie observing me curiously. A small smile spread across her lips as I sighed and turned back to my work like nothing happened.

-----------------------

Half way through lunch Josh bounded up towards our spot on the grass and sat down with a huge smile on his face.

"Guys I am inviting you all to my birthday party next week!" He basically shouted at us.

Shoot! I completely forgot it was his birthday next week!

A chorus of excitement spread through the group, only to be hushed by Corey asking,"it's your birthday? Sorry I didn't know."

"Don't worry dude. I don't exactly go around telling everyone!" This gained a giggle from Casey as Josh continued," it's on Saturday 2nd of April, same day as the party!"

"Will there be drinks and how many people are coming?" Casey asked curiously.

"You know me, lots of people, lots of drinks!"

At this me and Corey stiffened whilst I gave him a 'this is expected' look.

Josh began to ramble on about what will be there as well as a general idea of who is coming. Which ended up taking the whole of lunch. He was eventually interrupted by the bell ringing, so we all filed off to our next class.
