Brendon's POV
I've been hanging out in Jaron's room, just catching up and playing video games for a solid hour, but I can't seem to drag my thoughts away from Mia. I realised my earlier comment about always finding her cute makes me seem like some sort of a pedo but I'm only a year older than her.
I met Jaron in pre-school and thus I met Mia. We were never close as children, she was shy and the only boy she cared for was her brother. She really did admire him. You could see it in the way that she did, and still does look up to him. It's a look that says she's insanely grateful to have him in her life and wouldn't want to do anything to disappoint or upset him.
Jaron seemed to notice my spaced out appearance, snapping me out of my own thoughts for the third time this hour.
"Dude! You've been so out of it today!" he said with a light chuckle as he waved his hands in front of my face.
"Yeah, sorry man, guess my head's all over the place at the moment" I shrugged, hoping he wouldn't ask any questions.
"All good, I get the same sometimes. I think I hear my mother, we should help her with the groceries" he stated as he placed the controller on the ground and rolled out of the dark blue beanbag.
"YOU my friend are obliged to help your mother," I replied smugly, "But I am not" I finished, tucking my hands behind by head and relaxing back into the beanbag.
"Oh really?" Jaron said with the same smugness, returning my smirk.
Before I had a chance to reply he grabbed the beanbag and pulled it out from underneath me, leaving me a tangled mess on the floor.
"What the fuck man!" I chuckled while attempting to straighten up.
"You are a guest in this house and are therefore obliged to help out too." He replied, folding his arms across his chest.
I stood up and ran my hands down the front of my black t-shirt and then through my hair.
"Fine I'll come help" I sighed in defeat.
Jaron and I then exited his bedroom and traveled downstairs to help his mother and father.
I hadn't seen them in the two years they had been away but they looked very much the same as before.
"Hello there Brendon! Didn't take you long to return!" Jaron's mother said happily as she walked over and embraced me in a motherly hug.
"It's nice to see you again Mrs Moore!" I replied, returning the hug and then pulling away.
"Oh Brendon, you've known me far too long to call me Mrs Moore. Please call me Silvia."
"If you so wish, Silvia" I said with a friendly wink.
"Still the charmer I see!" Jaron's father adds, popping up behind Silvia's shoulder.
"Haha I guess so sir" I responded, extending my hand.
He rejected my hand a pulled me into the manly equivalent of Silvia's hug.
"And call me Adrian, no sirs, I get enough of that at work!" he stated with a chuckle.
