Brendon's POV

I woke up to my phone vibrating once more, but this time it wasn't because of an alarm. I rolled over and looked at the screen to see Jaron's name printed across it.

I got out of bed quietly before moving into the hallway and taking the call.

"Hello?" I asked tiredly.

"Hey Brendon, it's me. I'm out the front of your house if you could let me in," he said awkwardly.

I sighed and hung up the phone, before heading downstairs and to the front door. I opened the door to reveal a tired looking Jaron.

"I didn't come here to fight, I just wanted to talk," Jaron said tiredly. It seemed we were all tired. I nodded my head and stood to the side to let him pass.

We made our way into the lounge where we sat on opposite couches.

"So," Jaron said awkwardly.

"So...." I replied with a sigh.

"I guess I should start with an apology. The things I said about you, they were truly horrible and I feel horrible about saying them, I guess I was just a little shocked that's all."

"That's understandable man it doesn't matter," I said, trying to play it off.

"No, it does matter Brendon. What I said was horrible, and I was supposed to be your best friend. Best friends don't say that stuff about each other." Jaron kept apologising. "I guess I knew that something was going on between you two, I just didn't want to believe it."

"I know we should have told you, we were just worried about you, you know, flipping out," I chuckled awkwardly, causing a small smile from Jaron.

We continued talking (apologising) for a while before the questioning began.

"So, you started dating 6 months ago?" he asked, sounding like he was coming around to the idea.

"Yeah, I guess we got close after tutoring began and the rest is history," I said smiling, recalling the best six months of my life.

"She really makes you happy, doesn't she?" he asked.

"She really does. I can't even begin to explain how grateful to have her in my life,"

"Dude, I always hoped you'd find someone that would make you feel that way, but hell, I didn't think it would be my sister. What I should have said earlier is that you're a great guy and I know you'll do right by Mia," he finished with a smile.

We were in the middle of having a 'bro hug' when Mia descended the stairs.

Mia's POV

I woke up to find myself alone in Brendon's bed. I rolled over and grabbed my phone from the side table, and after allowing my eyes to adjust to the bright light, was able to read the time. 11:07. Much nicer than waking up at 6am.

I was able to enjoy my late start for approximately 30 seconds before I remembered the happenings of this morning. Part of me wished that was just a horrible nightmare, but alas, it was not. I threw my legs over the side of the bed and stood up slowly. After stretching, I decided to search for Brendon.

I stuck my head out of the doorway but there was no immediate sign of Brendon, only the sound of muffled voices coming from downstairs.

I made my way to the top of the staircase, descending slowly and physically stopped in my tracks looking at the sight before me.

On the couch was Brendon and Jaron hugging. At this stage I wasn't sure if anything was real anymore. How could they be hugging? They were beating each other merely hours ago!

"Am I dreaming?" I asked sleepily, rubbing my eyes.

"Mia!" Jaron called out, rushing over to me and enveloping me in a big hug, "Happy Birthday," he said, pulling away and smiling at me.

"Thanks," I mumbled.

"Look, I owe you an apology. You guys took me by surprise and I completely over-reacted. What I mean to say is, congratulations, you're both really lucky to have each other," he said, pulling me into another hug.

"I'm sorry Jaron," I mumbled into his shoulder, "I know I should have told you, I just didn't want you to get angry,"

"Hey hey, it's ok, I completely understand. I can be a little over-protective sometimes," he admitted chuckling.

"Just a little?" I asked cocking an eyebrow.

"Ok ok don't push it!" he said with a smirk, causing me to laugh. "Oh and this is for you," he said, handing me a small bag. I smiled whilst taking it from him, opening it to reveal delicate silver bracelet with a think name plate reading 'Mia' on it.

"Jarrrooonnn!" I whined, "It's beautiful!!" I said, throwing my arms around him once more.

"I'm glad you like it."

***

After almost a full day of filling Jaron in with Brendon and I's encounters (don't worry, we didn't include the particularly private details!), we headed back to my place to meet my parents.

They were due to arrive at 6:30pm, and as it was now 4:00pm, we thought it best to make our way back and put together some sort of dinner.

Jaron and Brendon had decided to cook (because apparently it's 'illegal' to do so on your birthday) so I invited Angie over where I filled her in on some happenings and she gave me her present.

Once I smelt smoke, and discovered that neither Jaron or Brendon, and most certainly not the combination of them, could cook, we decided to order Chinese.

6:30 rolled around, and a car pulled into the driveway. I invited both Angie and Brendon to stay as they were basically family to me, and I thought it was about time to introduce Brendon as my boyfriend to my father, if my mother hadn't already told him!!

The night went along smoothly, we exchanged conversation and jokes, finishing off the night with a game of Cards Against Humanity (which proved to be mildly embarrassing when playing with your parents but now I know that for next time!)

When asking my mum if Brendon could stay the night, she agreed with no hesitation, saying something about being 18 and responsibility or something like that, and it made me wonder why we weren't more open about our relationship sooner! It really did make things easier.

Brendon and I got ready for bed, crawling in one after the other, and just before we switched off the lights, Jaron came into the room.

"Now no funny business alright? I am just down the hall," he said with a smirk.

"It's alright, I'll keep the moaning to a minimum," Brendon said with a huge smirk, whilst I elbowed him.

Jaron just rolled his eyes and chuckling and leaving the room.

"I know the day didn't start off the best, but I couldn't be happier with the ending," Brendon said as I snuggled up beside me.

"Me neither B, me neither."
