Mia's POV

After the events of yesterday, I was well and truly confused. I didn't talk, to anyone. My mother seemed a little concerned, but brushed it off, and it wasn't until Angie was driving me to school that I cracked.

"What's up with you? You haven't said a word all morning!" she asked, glancing at me occasionally while keeping focus on her driving.

I didn't respond, just continued looking out the window.

"Hello?! Earth to Mia" Angie continued, punching my arm softly.

I sighed, rolled my eyes and turned towards her.

"Brendon kissed me" I said, looking at my hands in my lap.

"Yeah I know, that's old news hun" Angie replied.

"No I mean he actually kissed me, on the lips" I kept looking at my lap.

"What?!" Angie said, turning to look at me as we were stopped in traffic. "When?!"

"Last night."

"And you didn't tell me sooner!" she exclaimed over-dramatically.

"Ang, this isn't funny."

"I know, I'm just excited for you! Shouldn't you be excited?" she asked, the concern growing on her face.

"You don't understand" I said while sighing and returning my gaze out the window.

Once we got to school, Angie continued our conversation.

"What don't I understand?" she asked, trying to get me to talk some more.

"Everything" I stated dumbly.

Angie rolled her eyes, "make me understand" she offered me a kind smile, genuinely caring about my feelings and what I had to say.

So I explained. Firstly, I was worried about rejection. I don't know for sure that Brendon likes me and I'm very sensitive.

Secondly, he's Jaron's best friend. Never in a million years would Jaron accept me and Brendon being a thing, that means that the whole relationship would have to be in secret. That means no hanging out at school, lies and excuses and not even telling my parents.

And finally, if I did decide to try things with Brendon, if he liked me back, I couldn't be sure that he would be loyal. I know the type of guy Brendon is, and has been for years, he's a bit of a player, a flirt, a fuckboy even, whatever you want to call him.

Angie just pulled me into a hug after my rant, tears were welling up in my eyes.

"Does he make you happy?" she asked, pulling away from the hug and wiping under my eye.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"When you think about him, when you're around him, does he make you happy?"

"Yes, yes he does." I replied, a small smile forming on my face.

"Then that's all you need, and if he breaks your heart, I'll break his balls."

We laughed in response before getting out school supplies and heading into school.

Eventually it came to that time of day again, time for Maths. I arrived at class early, as per usual, and readied my music. I inserted the headphones as I left my locker and headed towards the classroom.

I arrived at the door, at to my surprise, there was already a student in there. What was even more surprising was that that student was Brendon himself. What was EVEN MORE surprising (bet you thought things couldn't get any more surprising) was that he was studying.

I stood in the doorway and was so shocked with what I saw that I dropped my iPod.

"Ah shit" I said as I collected it from the ground.

I looked up at Brendon as he hurriedly packed away his books.

"What're you doing?" I asked.

"Uh-Uh nothing" he rushed, still packing away his stuff.

I placed a hand on his books on the table. "You don't need to be ashamed of studying Brendon" I said kindly.

"I-I know it's just," he sighed, "it's just not my thing"

"It's ok, I understand, I won't tell anyone, cross my heart" I replied, crossing a finger over my heart and giggling.

"You have a cute laugh" Brendon responded while returning his deeper laugh.

I blushed and bowed my head.

"What did you drop earlier?" Brendon asked, leaning back on his chair.

"Oh just my iPod," I replied, gathering the device out of my pocket, "it's fine-"

I had a good look at the iPod, the screen was entire cracked with the home button completely missing.

"Well I guess I won't be listening to music for a while" I sighed, a little upset.

"Sorry my studying was so startling that it caused you to drop it." Brendon responded shyly.

"No no, it's my fault for being clumsy."

Brendon smiled lightly up at me. I took my seat in front of him and we continued making small talk before class started.

Mr Allen eventually entered the classroom and began to teach. He didn't say anything, but I could tell that he was somewhat shocked that Brendon seemed to be paying attention for once. Class seemed to fly by and it was almost time for the period to end.

"Just before we finish-up todays lesson I wanted to let you know about your next assessment. There is going to be a test on Thursday, so in two days-time, and it will be worth 20% of your mark. Happy studying!" Mr Allen said, earning a mixed bunch of groans from the class.

I packed up my stuff, and began heading out the classroom, to my lunch period. I put my books into my locker and headed to find my friends in the cafeteria.

They waved me over and I joined them at our usual table. I sat and quietly listened to their conversations when I felt a tap on my shoulder.

I turned around and saw Brendon standing behind me.

"Uh-hey Brendon" I said, confused as to why he was standing behind me.

"Hey Mia, I was just wondering if I could talk to you for a minute?" he asked politely.

I nodded before raising from my seat and walking towards a quieter section of the room.

"What's up?" I asked him when we had stopped moving.

"I was wondering if you could help me study, you know, for the Maths test" Brendon said, running a hand through his hair.

"I would love to" I said, poorly choosing my words. This earned a smirk from Brendon, "I mean sure, I guess I can help" I attempted to correct myself.

"Cool, I guess I'll see you later" Brendon said with a wink before walking off.

Two days of studying with Brendon, this should be interesting.
