Brendon's POV
After all the shopping was successfully brought inside, Silvia quickly whipped up some lunch, which she invited me to stay for.
While Jaron was busy preparing a salad, Silvia called me over from the kitchen table where I was sitting, browsing my phone.
"Brendon?" she called from a few meters away.
"Yes love?" I replied, earning a blush from Silvia and an eye roll from Jaron.
"Would you mind letting Mia know that lunch is almost ready?"
"Sure thing."
I headed upstairs, way too happy for this small interaction with Mia. I knocked twice on the door and waited for a response. Nothing. I knocked a second time, slightly louder. Still nothing. I slowly opened the door and stuck my head through the gap.
"Mia?" I called out quietly.
I saw her lying fully clothed on her bed, headphones laying messily around her face, now fast asleep.
I smiled before entering the room quietly. I drew the blinds, carefully untangled her head phones and paused her iPod, placing them on the bedside table. She was listening to Fall Out Boy. Nice, I smiled to myself.
I looked around briefly and spotted a throw blanket folded neatly on a chair. I picked it up and lay it gently over Mia. I stood there and smiled at her softly, admiring her beautiful sleeping figure before quietly exiting the room.
I walked back down the stairs and into the kitchen.
"Well?" Jaron asked as I descended the stairs alone.
"She's fast asleep." I replied, attempting to hide my small smile. I can't afford to give myself away.
"Oh the poor darling must be so tired after the move" Silvia sighed as she finished off buttering the bread rolls. "I'll save her some food in case she wakes."
We continued to eat lunch without her, mainly speaking of the two years that had passed. I learned Mia was very much the same as before, very dedicated to her school work although her personal tastes had 'developed more character' per Silvia.
Once lunch was finished, I decided to head off, allowing the Moore's to fully settle into their new/old home and prepare for their first day back at school tomorrow.
Mia's POV
When I opened my eyes, I was startled to find my room pitch black. I fumbled around on my beside table for the lamp switch, knocking off my iPod in the process.
I lent down and picked it up, feeling slightly confused as to how to it got there in the first place as I didn't remember putting it there, but attributed it to that weird pre-sleep fog state you enter before actually falling asleep.
I drew back my blanket, also something I didn't remember grabbing, swung my legs off my bed and turned on the main light. I examined my appearance in the mirror. My hair was slightly messier and my lips chapped but otherwise I looked refreshed.
I reapplied some lip balm and flattened the fluffy bits of hair on top of my head before heading out of my room and downstairs. As soon as I stepped into the hallway I could smell dinner coming from downstairs.
Dinner? Did I sleep through the afternoon? I headed down the stairs, holding the hand rail for balance.
"Oh sweetheart you're up!" my mother called out over the cooking. "How was your sleep?"
"Really good and much needed" I replied while stretching my arms.
"Well dinner is almost ready, I made your favourite, Spaghetti Bolognese."
I smiled back at her and headed into the dining room. I found Jaron and my father sitting and waiting eagerly at the table.
"Looks who's awake!" Jaron said as he looked up from his phone.
"Yep I'm up." I replied. Then I remembered the blanket and iPod, "Did you put a blanket on me?"
"No I didn't" he responded, looking slightly confused at the nature of my question before shrugging it off and returning to his phone.
"No phones at the table!" my mother said sternly, appearing at the end of the table with a large bowl of spaghetti.
"Sorry mum, I was just asking Brendon for a lift to school tomorrow." Jaron replied, placing his phone to the side.
Brendon. I had completely forgotten about him and our whole...situation. I ate dinner whilst becoming distracted with thoughts of Brendon once again. I had a feeling that he would be the centre of my thoughts for a while to come. Although that's not necessarily a bad thing, I should probably find myself a distraction.
Before too long, dinner and dessert were finished and everyone was heading off to bed. I was surprisingly tired for someone who had just slept for several hours. I changed into my pyjamas, cleaned my face and teeth and tucked myself into bed.
