There it was. The truth out in the open, a scene straight out of a melodramatic movie. Only difference, it was real life.
Hae In ran towards Namjoon trying to take him away from that god-forsaken confessional situation. While Namjoon resisted, Yoon Gi walked towards them ready to give an explanation, but before he could Mary reached out to him, turned him around and hit him across his face.
"All these years meant nothing to you, I see." Mary said with tears brimming in her eyes. "A**h**e." And with that she left the scene. The tension surrounding them was too evident. The love quadruple story turned into a love triangle.
Hae In had already been a part of this, but she was on the losing end then. Now she was the deciding factor but she already knew what she had to do. She dragged Namjoon away, held a taxi and left. Yoon Gi was left standing while clutching his cheek which was hit while watching Hae In leave.
"Maybe it was for the best." Yoon Gi whispered to himself and returned home.
Silence filled between Hae In and Namjoon. The taxi ride was alarmingly quiet, " You want to think this through?" Namjoon asked breaking the silence. "Why should I?" Hae In questioned back. They faced each other before Hae In spoke, "I like you Joonie, and that is not going to be influenced by a confession just because he used to be my crush long ago. I hope we are secure in this relationship that it doesn't get affected by any outsider." Namjoon intertwined their fingers and they smiled to each other.
Yoon Gi tried to get in contact with Hae In but with no avail. He knew he lost his last chance and possibly also their friendship.
Yoon Gi - (What have I done? Is this how she felt back then? It must have broken her heart...)
Yoon Gi landed in front of Hae In's apartment door gathering all the courage needed to knock on the door. He stood there contemplating if this was a good idea. He rang the doorbell but changed his mind and ran off to the corner where he could not be visible. No response.
He walked towards the door after a minute and the door flew open revealing Hae In rushing out while tying her pyjama lace. He gulped hoping that she didn't see him. Too late, she turned to him and stared dead in the eye. Both frozen to their respective place, neither of them opening their mouth waiting for the other to start talking.
With no exchange of words, Hae In returned back inside and slammed the door shut sending chills to Yoon Gi. She was not having it, he knew. He had to try, he was determined to at least mend what was bent or even broken. He retrieved for now, deciding to come back again prepared and armed with good explanation. As he headed to the elevator, the doors opened revealing Namjoon with handful of food delivery packages which eventually landed on the floor when he lifted his head to see Yoon Gi standing in front of him.
The elevator doors were about to shut just to be stopped by Namjoon's foot blocking them, picking up the fallen plastic packages he walked out the elevator towards Yoon Gi.
(I am not sure what ending to give to this story. I feel like I am stretching this too much. I would like to know what the readers prefer... Namjoon or Yoon Gi as the victor. Because all that is left is a fist fight between them and I am a very non-violent person.😛 )
(I will decide to write the last chapter based on your opinions, hopefully I do get them. I shall wait for a couple of weeks and upload the last part of this mini series. Toodles for now. 🤗 )
