The bright sun was shining through the window and onto my face as I feel around on my bed to feel peridot but there was nothing there. I sat up and the sun got out of my face so I could see more clearly. I looked around but didn't see peridot anywhere so I got up and went down stairs to see the whole temple deserted then I started getting worried as I went outside and started looking around. "Garnet, amethyst, pearl, peri!?" I yelled around the beach but had no response. Maybe there at the barn? I thought to myself I started walking over to the barn but realized I was still in the clothes I slept in so I went back inside to change and continued my short journey to the barn. It was a beautiful day out but I was to worried to enjoy it if peridot was here it would make it so much more enjoyable. I made it to the barn and I saw a sight that made all my worries flood away. I saw peridot looking at different parts by the drill then I noticed that the other gems weren't there as I got got closer to peridot I noticed her beautiful and practically perfect face I blushed but quickly tryed to hide it as she looked towards me "oh hey Steven!" She says taking her attention off of the drill to me as she hugged me and I hugged back. "Hey peri..where are the gems?" I ask her letting go of the hug-not that I wanted to-but it would be a bit weird if I hugged her as long as I wanted to. "Oh the gems went out this morning on a mission and since you were sleeping I thought I would do something productive with my time and work on the drill." She says pointing to the drill behind her with scrap parts laying about. " alright just next time tell me before you leave you got me scared to death!" I said with a worried yet relived look. "Hehe...sorry Steven." Peridot says to me. "So..what do you want to do?" I asked her figuring the gems weren't here and it's Monday so there's not much going on. "Well I guess I have been working on the drill enough...I guess we could just walk around." Peridot said out of options. Then I got an idea..what if I show her around the gem places! I won't take her anywhere dangerous of course..I don't know what I would do if something happened to her. "We could go to the places the gems showed me! Well, not the dangerous places of course." I say holding out my hand for her to take. "Oh alright. I suppose there's nothing else to do.." she says taking my hand slightly blushing. I had a sudden feeling that someone was watching us I looked around but saw no one probably nothing...I thought to myself as me and peridot started heading to the nearest warp pad.

Peridots p.o.v
As I took Stevens hand with a slight blush I felt cold eyes glaring at me...I felt so.. familiar yet different. I ignored it as me and Steven started walking to the nearest warp pad. When we hopped on the warp pad it had such a familiar feeling like I was...still a homeworld gem. That gave me an idea "hey Steven, can I pick a place?" I asked him "of course peri" he said smiling at me as we warped away to the place. When we arrived at the big rocks and boulders with gem shaped holes in them..the kindergarten..not just any kindergarten but the kindergarten I worked at. I remember this place so well sure I wasn't here when the war started but was created a few years after the war ended so I mostly worked by making normal gems, like amethyst stronger then what they are and I also had experience with the corrupted gems..trying to bring them back to normal but it never worked. I looked down at Steven who had an questioning look. "The kindergarten? Why'd you bring us here?" He asked me looking around at what now looks like nothing but trash. " this is where I used to work as a peridot from homeworld.."I said to him walking off the warp pad and examining the exist holes. "What was it like on homeworld?" Steven asked me cautiously. " well it-" I was cut off by a rumbling behind me I quickly turned around and saw a corrupted gem running towards me. Before I could do anything I got shoved-more like tackled out of the way by Steven. He quickly got up and helped me up. "You stay here! I got to get that corrupted gem before it causes more trouble!" Steven says starting to run after the creature but I grabbed his arm "let me come with!" I said to him but he simply refused he didn't even look like he thought about it " no you need to be safe here" he says with caring eyes. "Why not?! I'm a crystal gem to! I should be able to help.." I say back to him. "No! I can't lose you!" He says as he runs after the corrupted gem. I didn't want to disobey his orders...but I can't lose him I'm sure he could live without me but I don't know what I would do if- no peridot don't think of that just go make sure he stays safe! I thought to myself as I started running in the direction he went. I ran but was stoped by a shadow that quickly came out of the rocks and I was hit upside the head. I fell to the ground in great pain as I felt myself about to pass out but before I passed out I heard a faint yet familiar voice "let's see who steven loves after this..peridot" I heard the voice say I tried hard to get up but was shoved back down by the person and passed out.

I was running after the corrupted gem. I wanted to get this gem by myself to show the gems that I can do things on my own. I feel bad for leaving peridot there but I can't let her get hurt I would feel so guilty. I ran for a while but came to three turns and there was no site of the monster or it's tracks. " hmm..." I thought to myself but eventually gave up I was about to turn around to start heading back to peridot but I then heard a voice..a voice that I once considered a friend. "Hello Steven" the voice said as I turned around to find none other than Connie "connie what do you want-" I was cut off by something getting injected in me then I felt dizzy and everything turned black.
