Chapter 18
There are a couple days where you just feel so lazy that you won’t even get out of bed. There are a couple days where you don’t feel like going to school at all even though you know you have friends waiting for you there.
Okay, maybe that was every day for me.
But since we have to go to school every day to get educated, there’s still a couple days that you refuse, no matter what, to go to school. The thought of skipping school just cross your mind and its decision was already made inside your head. You decided to skip school.
And that was one of the days where I decided not to go to school as I texted Stella and apologized to her. I checked the time and I knew school hadn’t started yet, so meaning he was still home.
I sprang out of my bed, did my daily routine before getting out of the house, sporting something presentable. I didn’t really care what I wore outside the house as long as it was comfortable and pass the check okay.
I was heading to carter’s house, also known as the house right next to mine. Yes ladies and gentlemen I, Brenda Callie Cowell, decided to skip school one day to spend time with Carter. I never knew why the thought even flashed through my head to do so, but I guess I owed him something since everything he had done for me.
The door of the Underwood opened right when I was about to knock on it as my fist missed the wooden door, it hit someone’s chest, hard.
Right.
I quickly jerked back my hands before I looked up as I stared at his amused face.
“Brenda.”
“Carter.” He was wearing a blue hoodie paired up with black ripped jeans as he had his bag slumped over his shoulder and one side of his white earphones was plugged in his right ear.
“What were you doing in front of my door?”
“Uhh,” I fumbled with the hem of my shirt as I bit the inside of my lips nervously, “You see the mail person was throwing the daily newspaper and then woopsie! He threw it in front of our house instead of yours. Ha ha. Missed the spot I guess. So-“
“We don’t get daily newspapers.” He simply said, crushing my excuse as he raised his eyebrows in suspicion.
“Oh really? No no I’m pretty sur-“
“Brenda.” He said my name in a tone indicating that I had to get straight to the point before he loose his patience.
I rubbed my hands together as my feet were shifting uncontrollably. I was kind of nervous, I don’t even know why. It wasn’t like I was asking him to give me a million dollars or something. “I’m planning uhm to skip school toda-“
A loud gasp came from him, but I ignored it as I continued, “So I was wondering if you could too. I mean like we can go to parks anywhere, set mind of some things. I know this place that sell good drinks and it is my favorite place you know. It really is amazing. The most amazing place in America and you should try it out. I mean I owe you.”
Dammit, that was too much.
He had this very amused look on his face as he replaced it with the all so famous smirk, “Are you asking me on a date?”
“What! No no no! Misunderstanding, Jesus, ha ha ha no! What?!”
Shit, the blush. The blush was coming as I quickly averted my gaze from him.
