Chapter 8
"Me and Mickey have to work on an English assignment together" She said grinning, adding emphasis on 'together'. "And he's coming over."
"Oh uh. Daddy's not going to be very happy." I said as I slammed my locker shut. I turned my head to face her while leaning against my locker. "Is he?"
"Not at all."
I knew Stella's parents very well. Her mum's very kind and she treats me like her second daughter but her dad is the opposite. Her dad's very strict and he hates visitors very much and even worse when it's a boy. But thank God, he already got used to me coming over.
"Why don't you go to Mickey's house instead?" I suggested, tucking a lose stray of hair behind my ear.
"He said his house is under construction." She explained, pouting her lips. "I have to beg my dad so that he can come over tonight. So that means that we have to go shopping for your dress really fast today."
I rolled my eyes, "You're the slow shopper and by the way, you can pass."
"But I won't. I love shopping." she stated, placing one hand on her hips. "Hey, you should teach me how to sing so I can sing to Mickey. I'll be like, hey Mickey you're so fine, you're so fine, hey Mickey!"
I let out a hysterical laugh as my best friend joined in.
Suddenly, someone came and hugged me from behind.
That familiar smell..
I didn't dare to turn around, so instead I pinched his arm that was placed around my neck. "What are you doing?!" I said, through clenched teeth. People were giving us tense looks as my best friend was staring wide-eyed at me. She mouthed me a 'tell me later' before awkwardly walking away.
He placed his head next to my ear before whispering, "Are you on your period?"
Is he fucking serious? My face was slowly boiling of anger, "Don't joke around like that, Carter."
Especially not since what happened yesterday. This might not seem awkward to him, but to me it feels like i'm dehydrating as my heart started to pick up it paces.
"I'm not. Your pants are red from behind." He informed, smirking before slowly loosening his arms around me.
I quickly grabbed back his arms and tightened it once again around me so he was still covering me, "Don't let go. Bathroom. Now. Pleasee."
Embarrassing myself again. Fantastic job Brenda. I deserve an award for that.
I got out of the bathroom in my PE shorts. If I hadn't had PE, I would've been locking myself in the bathroom and balling my eyes out. The whole hall was already empty as an idiot's mind. Everyone must have gone to class.
I saw Carter, leaning his back against the wall as a smirk was placed on his face. He examined me from head to toes, "Nice shorts."
"Right. And why does all these embarrassing things always happen here and when you are visible." I said, throwing my hand up in the air, "It's just like the last time." I added.
"Now I wouldn't put it that way. There's one difference. Last time you dragged me here and this time I dragged you." He drawled as he winked at me, "But both of the times you're the one embarrassed. Cough. Loser."
I rolled my eyes, "I've been called worse."
"Really? like what?" He asked, fake gasping as he placed one hand on his chest.
"Your girlfriend."
He stared expressionless at me before a smirk was slowly spreading across his face again. Ugh, that shitty smirk again. "That must have been the only good thing someone has ever said to you," he joked.
"Immature jerk face."
"Feisty, aren't we?"
"I have to get to my class." I said, ignoring him as I brushed pass him.
Somehow, my heart started to beat really fast when our skin touched. Is this some kind of side effects when you're on your period?
When I was three steps away, I turned around. He was already walking to the other direction.
"Carter!" I called out. He turned around with his hands in his pockets as he gave me sign to continue, "You don't have to drive me home today. And..thanks for yeah..."
He just shrugged it off and kept walking. I kept my gaze fixed on his back as it was slowly fading away until he was completely out of my sight.
"My feet hurts." Stella whined before sipping the remaining amount of liquid in her bottle of water.
"Come'on you're at starbucks and you ordered a bottle of water. Try my chocolate chip cream. It's the best. It might even help your feet."
Chocolate chip cream is seriously the best. I can't live without chocolate...
Okay, maybe I can, but you know what I mean.
"Come'on you're at starbucks and you ordered a bottle of water and blah blah blah," She mimicked before she started rambling to no end, "It's freaking four 'o clock Brenda. We've walked almost the whole entire mall and there's nothing you want to wear. Either the dress's too fluffy, short, long, dark, light, glittery, boring, slutty or the way you say it; too-open for human kind. Choose a freaking dress already. You're so indecisive. Gosh. I mean like it's just a party. I have to be home by six and I haven't made my begging spee-"
"Let's continue haunting for the perfect dress," I cut her off as I rapidly stood up so she won't continue rambling. She rolled her eyes and stood up as well.
After, half an hour and climbing three more sweat-breaking stairs, we entered a shop called; Dress Mania.
Suddenly, my phone beeped. I took my phone out of my pocket as I checked it.
A new message from: Nathan Jones AKA Red Light
I grinned at it as I slowly opened the message. Stella stood next to me, peeking at my phone.
Don't forget about tomorrow, be ready by seven. -Nathan. xX
I jumped from excitement. Ohh silly Nathan, how could I forget. I replied to him with a smiley face and an ex.
I looked at my best friend, "Charming isn't he? And by the way, it's not just a party. It's a party with Nathan."
Stella stared at me dumbfounded. "Oh. You were actually listening?"
"How can I not." I said, smiling at her.
She smacked the back of my head, "You love-sick-lost-puppy."
I laughed out loud, but something immediately caught my eye.
The dress was shining like a founded treasure. I stared wide-eyed at it as I was grinning like crazy.
Finally, the perfect dress with my favorite color on it. The one that I've spent entire afternoon looking for. I was itching to try it on.
Treasure, that is what you are.
Now, let's see if it fits.
