Day 65: The Last Movie You Watched

The last movie I watched was Star Wars: Episode 1- The Phantom Menace in 3D.  I honestly feel bad because even though I was in the theater and supposed to be watching it I cannot remember what it was about.  I wasn't even really watching.  Let me explain, my story goes something like this.

It all started out really well.  I found out how to pay for parking, somehow I found the theater (technically the 9 year old I work with found the theater), we got popcorn, and we sat down with our 3D glasses and watched ads play on the screen.

Finally the movie started.  Everything was going great except the glasses were irritating my nose (3D glasses always irritate my nose).  I was enjoying the movie and then all of the sudden I had this coughing attack.  At that point in time I was suffering from the strangest cold I'd ever had which is another story in itself.  Long story short, every so often (about once a day or more) I'd have these coughing attacks and not even a drink of water could stop them.

Instead of being rude to everyone in the theater I quietly got up and left the theater.  I found a drinking fountain and walked around for a little bit.  Thinking that the coughing fit was over I went back to the theater, found my seat, sat down, and felt like coughing again!  So I painfully held it in.

What happened next probably scared the coughs away.  I have a cell phone that the family I work for gave me to use.  I was still trying to get used to it and I thought that I'd put the phone on silent when the movie started.  I was wrong.  All of the sudden my phone started ringing.  I mean, how rude!  Right in the middle of a movie...in a theater!  How rude was that?

First off I didn't recognize the ring tone, then I realized it was mine and frantically searched for my phone in my purse.  I opened the phone (yes, it's a flip phone) and it automatically answered (I thought it was set so I had to push a button to answer but I was wrong).  So here I am, sitting in the theater with someone on the other end waiting for me to say hello.  What do I do?  I close the phone and hang up on whoever it was.

By now I'm panicking.  I feel so bad that I've interrupted everyone's movie, first with my coughing, then with my phone ringing.  I decided that I didn't want whoever called me to call me back so I pushed the end button to turn off the phone.  Bad idea.  You know how phones have that bad habit of playing a tune when they are shutting down?  Well, that's what the phone did.  It was super loud...I think louder than when the phone was ringing.  Not only was it loud the little happy tune just kept on playing.

Now with my phone off I felt a little better.  Only I didn't feel better!  I kept thinking that it was the mom of the two boys I had sitting next to me.  What if she needed to talk to me?  What if she was worried?  With these questions pressing I decided that I needed to get up, leave the theater, and turn the phone back on.  So that's what I did.

Now standing in the hallway I turned the phone back on.  I waited and waited to see if a text or something came in from the mother of the two little boys I was with.  Nothing.  Still nothing...

So I went back into the theater.  As I went back in I turned off the phone.  Guess what.  That same annoying sound played again (surprise, surprise).  Luckily I was quite a ways away from the seats when this happened.

So I went back to my seat.  I was determined to watch the rest of the movie.  It was all going good and then all of the sudden I my head was falling down!  I jerked it back up...it fell down again! I jerked it back up again!  I was falling asleep! Instead of fight it I let myself fall asleep.

I slept through the majority of the movie only to wake up in the end and not understand what was going on.

The End!
