A/N: Hey everyone! I just wanted to thank everyone for continuing to read my fanfic! It really means a lot to me (considering I'm planning on minoring in Creative Writing next year in college hehe)! If you guys haven't heard already, one of my friends on Wattpad entered me in the new Kuroko no Basket WattyAwards competition. This will be my first WattyAwards competition, and it would be an awesome dream-come-true if you guys could all take a couple of minutes to vote for me in the category: "Others". It would be an awesome birthday gift for me *grins* (February 3 --> MONDAY)
----------------------------------------------------
"Dad doesn't seem to be here," Hyuuga muttered, looking around the court.
"Now that you mention it..." Izuki started. He was cut off by the loud 'thud' at the entrance of the gymnasium. We all looked up from our warm-ups to see the ginormous Senegal player standing at the entrance with his head above the door.
"Everything is so short in Japan," he cursed. We all stared at him in awe and fear.
"H-he's huge! And k-kind of...long," Koganei stammered. Hyuuga dropped his ball in shock and it rolled across the floor to stop at one of our opponent's feet.
They started a conversation, but I quickly lost interest as I began to analyse the opponents. I had eyes like Riko's but they could analyse a player's movements and – to some extent – predict their next play. I made slow turns to take in each individual player until I accidently bumped into something hard.
"Oomph!" I staggered, surprised. I looked up and found Dad towering above me. Suddenly, he picked me up underneath my arms.
"No, little boy. Children shouldn't be on the court." I stared coolly at him while my teammates were terrified.
"M-masa-kun!" I heard them shout. As he swayed me around, he saw my jersey underneath my shirt.
"You're a player?" asked Dad, flabbergasted. He set me down on my feet as I continued to stare at him. He snorted before walking away. "They lost to a child like him? Are all the Generation of Miracles children?"
I heard snickers behind me – Kagami, Izuki, Koganei, and the others were snickering, holding their stomachs and rolling on the floor. I rolled my eyes but didn't say anything. This was just too funny.
"Honestly, I'm starting to get annoyed," Kuroko's monotone voice piped up. Kagami's laughter slowly ceased. "You don't like to lose, do you?" He whipped off his shirt, revealing his jersey underneath.
"I guess we'd better show Dad why he shouldn't piss kids off!"
---------------------------------
Mitobe, Izuki, Kuroko, Hyuuga, and Kagami were in the first line up. That left me, Koganei, and the other first-years on the bench. I sat next to Riko, watching the game. Kagami and Dad were facing each other off in the jump-off.
C-crap! Kagami lost to Dad in height! I nervously thought. H-he's huge! I continued to observe the game as Dad made a two-point shot.
"He's so tall!" Riko muttered under her breath. "Shinkyo is in the lead." I grimaced but then overheard Hyuuga's conversation with the captain of the other team.
"But if that's your policy, then don't complain. We have our own monsters, but we didn't have to invite them though," Hyuuga smirked.
"Haah?"
I watched amusedly as the game continued on in the first quarter as Dad kept missing his shots. Riko suddenly stood up, smirking. "It won't be so easy to score now, because Kagami-kn won't let Dad make his plays." Kawahara glanced at Riko, but I knew what she meant.
"What do you mean?" he asked.
"Even if he can't reach, there's still a way," Riko explained. "Mitobe's way. His talent is catching the rebounds and being a very strong defender. Kagami trained with Mitobe on defending and manuvering around." I had to stifle a laugh when I heard Dad losing his focus due to Kagami's intensity.
The buzzer sounded for the end of the second quarter.
"Kuroko, sub with Masami-chan. Masami – err...Masa-kun," Riko corrected herself before leaning closer to my ear. "It's rough out there. Don't lose your wig." She leaned back, grinning at me. I chuckled, mock saluting her before running out to the court.
"Eh? They sent another child out here?" The captain mocked. I glared at him but didn't say anything. Wait until they see me play. I smirked, feeling myself get into the zone.
----------------------------------
"Seirin wins! 69 – 79!" The referee blew on his whistle. "Bow!"
"Thank you for the game!" both teams shouted. I straightened myself up, smirking at Dad and the captain of Shinkyo. They stared at me with fear and awe in their eyes
"What a monster!" They both thought. My grin only got wider as I bared my teeth and snapped at them. They both jerked back, frightened. I chuckled lowly. I could hear my teammates' thoughts as they watched me tease the other team. "H-how scary!!"
I felt someone hit me on the head. I cringed, holding my sore head. "OWW!" I glared at my assaulter and found Hyuuga frowning down at me.
"Stop scaring them, baka." I stuck my tongue out at him and watched as Dad approach Kagami.
"I lost. Please play hard for me in your next game."
"U-uh," Kagami replied uncertainly.
"I mean, you're an idiot! An idiot!" taunted Dad. Suddenly he was dragged by his collar away from Kagami. Waving his arm around wildly, he shouted at Kagami, "You moron, I won't lose next time!"
I burst out laughing, slapping my knee. "Ahahaha! Bakagmi got told! Ahahaha! Aho!" We retreated back to Riko's side as she announced, "This concludes our first game of the preliminaries. Our second game is against Jitsuzen High."
-----------------------------------
With me benched the entire game against Jitsuzen High, we still crushed them 118 to 51. Our third game was against Kinga High. One of the top 16 teams last year, they had a strong defence and offence. We still beat them with 71 to 92. I only played for the fourth quarter. I was twitching the entire time because I felt restless.
Our fourth game however was very interesting.
"Seirin's nothing but a new school. They got destroyed in the championship league last year." Kagami, Kuroko and I glanced up at the incoming members. I heard Kagami growl as they continued to talk trash about our team.
"It's those guys from the other day," Kagami muttered. Kuroko nodded his head in agreement. I scrunched my eyebrows at Kagami's comment. They both saw my confusion and waved it away.
"We played against them in a 3v5 a couple of days ago," explained the red-head. I watched as Kagami walk up to the leader and they bumped into each other.
"So, we meet again." I snickered at the others' expressions. They look like they're going to piss their pants!
"They're going to destroy us!" The leader cried out. We didn't even have to play hard against Meijo Academy – they were already bowing down to us as we crushed them easily at 108 to 41.
"At this rate, we'll make it to the finals!" Furihata exclaimed. Koganei shook his head, "Nah. It will only get more difficult here on out."
I grinned. "I can't wait to play against Shutoku High."
