Adrien is alone for Valentine's Day, so he mopes around in his room (while simultaneously hiding from Chloé). To respond to his inner woe, he consults his inner poet and creates a valentine for a certain spotted heroine.

There are some things we are taught,

yet there are others we just know.

I can be told by a thousand people
The universe is filled with hundreds of galaxies
All bearing distant planets holding keys to the unknown.
In reality, it is a terrible waste of breath —
For I can know and understand these things
Simply when you are there.

In your eyes, I see the sunny days.
In your face, I see the starry nights.
I see a sky that is flecked with stars, strewn like petals on a bed of roses.
I see soft, blossoming clouds, gliding along with the gentle caress of wind.
I see an endless trail of galaxies promising the discovery of precious secrets,
but you forbid my desires to chase after them.

I want to take that chance. I want to open the forbidden box and see everything that you strive to hide from me. I long for it so badly, but you are like the Sun: Every time I turn my gaze to you in an attempt to know more, you force me to look away.

But you are also like the Moon, nestled amidst a sea of stars, steady on your ethereal throne. You show but one side of your face to me, keeping the other shrouded in darkness.

You are lovely yet imposing, and so enticingly so. I see the blue of your eyes and right there, I am lost at sea. No matter what I do, I only manage to make myself sink deeper. You look on, as if you cannot feel, but you will not let me drown.

There are days I feel it is hopeless. I am but a mere star who is trying to approach the very essence of light. We are thousands upon thousands of miles apart, with planets and meteor showers between us. And yet, the wonderful thing about starlight is that it is so strong, so hopelessly stubborn that you can see it even from the ends of the Earth.

And so, I am pushed forward by this thought: Maybe, if we as little, insignificant beings doomed to roam a world of sea and sky and land can see, recognize and name the little beacons of light our weak eyes can perceive, maybe the Sun and Moon will be able to see past the dull exterior and identify the little star concealed within every person, no matter how weak the light in comparison to their brilliance.

Maybe then the Moon will regard the stars with love, and reveal to them her hidden face. I'm sure that someday, it will come to be, if you will let me light the way.

After all,

there are some things we are taught,

yet there are others we just know.

Adrien.
