Prologue

Toby's POV

"Toby, Tobes are you here?" I heard my dad call out to me as he came home from his dinner with this girl he's been dating

I know my dad is an adult and has every right to try and be happy but he's barely dated my entire life and now suddenly he's spending all his extra time with Chloe? I think that's her name anyways, he always goes on about her so it's basically etched into my brain

Basically, when my parents were 17 they were dating and one night got a bit too drunk and that's how I happened, but when I was born my mom ran out on us

My dad gave everything up to raise me, he's literally the best dad ever, I'm so glad he's my dad, we've always been really close

But now I'm 13 years old he decided he wanted to try and find someone, he's been dating Chloe for like 3 months I've never even met her, she probably some ugly old cow because dad thinks he doesn't have a shot with the pretty girls even though all the single moms at school swoon over him like 24/7

I don't want to share my dad with some random woman, it's always just been me and him, why does that have to change?

"Yeah I'm here dad!" I called back to him from my room

"Tobes can you come down here a sec, I have someone I'd like you to meet" he told me from downstairs

What? Who's he brought with him?

No, no, no, no

If it's Chloe I swear to god, if I meet her it means they're serious, dad promised me I'd never have to meet anyone unless it was serious

I walked downstairs praying it would be some old bald guy or something but to no avail

I came downstairs and walked into the living room to find dad and some blonde, they were looking away from me so I couldn't see her face

As he hears my footsteps dad turns around and I brace myself for this

"Toby, I'd like you to meet Chloe, Chloe, this is my son Toby" dad introduced us and as she turned around I'm like 99.9% certain my jaw dropped rather dramatically, I swear she's closer to my age than his, she looks like she's like 12

She's tiny, I'm actually pretty much her height, granted apparently I'm tall for my age but still

"Hi Toby, it's really nice to meet you!" She tells me as they both come over to me

She's really pretty but she's seriously a kid or something

"Uh hi" I reply, I think she's about to try and shake my hand or something when she goes for a full on hug

Dude can someone get this weird person of me, thanks

I can't stop staring I mean what the hell? Definitely not what I was expecting, like seriously?

This is probably a good thing, it'll never last I mean just look at them, like hell is this permanent, I give it a month tops

"How old actually are you?" I ask rather awkwardly

"Toby!" My dad hisses at me but Chloe just giggles, slightly nervously but still giggling and then smiles

"No babe it's fine, I know I look like I'm like 15 but I'm 23" she explains, did she just call him babe? Gross, that is actually seriously gross

Then my dad clearly decides it's my time to die because he pulls her over to him and kisses her check in some super lovey dovey way

Rip me, I have just been killed

"Chloe's gonna join us for movie night, okay bud?" My dad asks me like there's an option but let's be honest, is there ever an option?

Movie night is our thing, the only other person to ever join us for movie night was grandma and that was just one time, it will also never happen again, the thought makes me shiver in disgust

"What movie is it tonight?" I ask and dad looks at Chloe

"What do you wanna watch chlopop?" Dude no, just no, nuh uh, I'm out, we are not playing the who can disgust Toby the most with their weird nicknames for each other game, I refuse

"Actually dad, I don't feel so great, I'm gonna go to bed" I tell him hurriedly

"Oh buddy are you okay? You need me?" He asks but I just shake my head and make for my bedroom

"Goodnight" I call as I run

"Oh umm goodnight Tobes" he replies but I'm already half way up the stairs

Someone please save me, pretty please
