Chapter 18

Chloe's POV

Ryan tried to talk to Toby that night but Toby was having none of it, he didn't want to know, he argued with him and then he just ignored him in general

I tried to talk to him after that but he just wouldn't even acknowledge my existence, he just acted like I wasn't even there

He continued to do this from there, barely spoke to his father, completely ignored me, he spent most of him time either in his room or at his friends' houses

But it wasn't just us he was being disobedient for, he's been ignoring all of his teachers, he's gotten in trouble at school multiple times, it's been 3 months and Ryan's been down at the school over 10 times

Ryan's worried he's gonna start getting in trouble with the police or something soon because of how bad he's getting

Ry's been worrying about me a lot too, he says all this stress is bad for me and the baby, he says I'm 6 months pregnant so I should be taking it easy

This is killing him, he wants to spend time focusing on me and the baby but every time he does Toby kicks off, he's almost 15 years old and he acts like a child looking for attention when Ryan comes near me but then Ryan can't spend time with him because he won't listen or let him

I feel awful, it's all my fault, if I hadn't been so stupid as to get pregnant none of this would've happened, we were finally getting there and now we've been set so far back that I'm worried he's just never gonna speak to me again and then that'll cause issues between him and his dad and I'm worried about how that's gonna strain our relationship as well

The most important thing in all this though is him, I want him to at least talk to his dad and have a proper relationship with him even if he forsakes me and the baby for all eternity but Ryan deserves a relationship with him

I've been really starting to feel the strain lately so my hours at work have been cut, Ryan doesn't like that I go out and work at all, he's all super cute when he's over protective, he's all over my bump and it's really cute although sometimes it can get a bit annoying, I know he just wants to be there for me and the baby and be as proactive as he can so I try not to lose my temper with him too much but all those hormones are hard to control sometimes

It just so happened that today I was at home off work, sat on our bed reading when the phone started ringing

I grabbed it to pick it up, when I looked at the caller ID I sighed, Toby's school again, I hesitantly answered it

"Hello is this the residence of Toby McCartan?" The office lady asked, sounding slightly agitated, great what did Toby do?

"Yeah, I'm his stepmom, what's going on?" I asked even though I'm pretty sure I already know

"Toby got into a fight with one of the other boys at school, he's been suspended and someone needs to come and pick him up" great another fight, this is the first time he's been suspended though, what's different?

"Umm okay, I'll be there soon" I tell her and then hang up

Great, he's gonna love it if I'm the one who comes to pick him up but Ryan's a four hour drive away so he can't exactly do it

I grab my keys, my phone and my purse and headed out to my car, this was gonna be fun....not

Side note though:
For those of you who haven't heard, the Houses of Parliament in Westminster (London) were attacked earlier today along with Westminster Bridge, I am from the UK, not that far from London, I have been on that bridge and in front of those buildings, this is my capital, the heart of my government that suffered a terrorist attack today, so please, keep your thoughts and prayers with the injured and the families of those who have lost their lives along with everyone else involved as I am, this country hasn't seen an attack like this in over a decade, we have been shaken to our core #PrayforLondon Xoxo
