Chloe's POV

The dance went on for a couple more hours and then it finally got to the last dance, father daughter and mother and son, the one thing Ryan can't do

Toby comes over to us and I go to make room for him to sit down but he just stands in front of me awkwardly

"Chloe, w...would you come do the dance with me?" He asks both awkwardly and nervously

I turn to look at Ryan, convinced he must be making Toby do this

"Wasn't me" Ryan puts his hands up in defence

"He didn't have anything to do with this" Toby assures me

"You don't have to Toby, I don't want to embarrass you" I tell him but he shakes his head

"I want to, so please?" He asks me an I genuinely have to try not to cry

"Of course" I reply

Ryan's POV

I watch as Toby leads Chloe onto the dance floor, I like semi lied, I knew he was gonna ask her to do this dance but I didn't tell him to do it

Watching them dance is one of the best things I've ever seen, one of the best moments of my life

Maybe it's crazy but I'm hoping one day he'll start treating her a little more like a mother figure, I'm not stupid enough to think will just start calling her mom one day, he's 14 it's way past that but he never knew his mother and I hope to god he never will

I loved her, I was ready to give up everything to raise our son together, I would've done anything but she left, she gave up custody and gave up her rights she hasn't even tried once to make contact since, Chloe has been there for him more in the 14 months she's known him than his biological mother has in 14 years

Them dancing together was beautiful, her smile while dancing with my son it was everything and Toby, he looked so happy with her

I know it wasn't working very well between them to begin with, I heard what was said the day she had that panic attack a month ago, I know he caused it, I'm not mad at him but I have to admit I was a little worried that they'd never get along

When the song finished they walked back over to me, I wrapped my arms around both of them and pulls them into a group hug

"You guys ready to go home?" I ask them as I finally let them go, a smile still plastered on my face

"Yeah" Toby replies

Chloe just nods, she's clearly shattered, she's had a long week and suffers from exhaustion a lot so I think it's best if she goes to bed when we get home

"Okay then, let's get going, Toby, you wanna watch a movie when we get home?" I suggest as we head out towards the car

"Yeah, Chloe you gonna join us?" He asks her but I answer before she can

"I think Chloe needs to get some rest" I tell him, hoping she'll just agree

"Ry it's fine, I'll watch a movie, what do you wanna watch?" She's asks him, I sigh, my wife has no idea when to stop

I watch the two of them picking a movie and I know it's such a trivial thing but it's these little things that make our family feel so normal

We might finally be able to just be a normal family and that is the best feeling in the whole entire universe as far as I'm concerned

Aww, who else thought they were goals right there, of course that doesn't last forever, at least not when I'm writing.... xoxo
