Epilogue

Author's POV

Just under two weeks later both Chloe and Klara were released from the hospital, both in good health, Toby wouldn't leave his little sister alone unless he absolutely had to, he was such a proud big brother

Hearing him call Chloe mom was a little weird for both Chloe and Ryan at first, neither of whom had ever expected that from him and it was pretty weird for Toby too who felt rather awkward saying it to begin with but after a few weeks it began to feel natural, they began to feel like they had always been as they were now

The way it was supposed to be

Ryan's POV

It's been ten months now since Klara was born, I can't believe how long it's been, she's grown up so fast

I sat on the couch with Chloe curled up in my lap and I watch as Toby tries to get Klara to take her first steps, he's been trying for three weeks now I think and it's so cute but she's only 10 months old so I think he might have to wait a little longer

I chuckle watching him trying so hard, it's really cute, he's such a protective big brother, they just had another school dance at his school and he asked me and Chloe to chaperone, purely so that at the end of the night he could dance with Klara, he held her up and helped her dance on his feet and then just picked her up and twirled her around, it was the sweetest thing I've ever seen

And Chloe's taken to motherhood like a duck to water, the first couple of weeks after they came out of the hospital were a bit challenging but she's done so well and Klara absolutely adores her mom

I've been begging Chloe to consider having one more but she stands firm that she will not do it again, I guess I see her point, it wasn't exactly great the first time around, I can understand why she wouldn't want to do it again

"Come on Klara, come on, you can do it" Toby coaxes her but it doesn't seem to be working as she just starts crawling over to him, he seems to be getting just a little frustrated but she takes one look at the huge grin on his little sister's face and can't help but smile

He goes over and helps her stand up because she can manage that, he stands up and helps her by holding her arms, it's like the fourth time he's tried this but she's had none of it, she's as stubborn as him and her mother

But then I see it

"Chlo" I whisper to Chloe who's got her eyes shut, laying against my chest

He eyes flutter open in that adorable way that I can't help loving and she immediately sees exactly what I'm seeing

Toby takes a step and Klara does it with him, then he takes another and so does she, they keep doing that all the way across the room, the further they get the less help he gives her

Chloe gasps watching her little girl walking for the first time and I can barely avoid doing that myself

She nestles her little body into mine and intertwines our fingers so my arm is wrapped around her, something I have no issue with

"YESS KLARA!" Toby exclaims very excitedly as he lifts her up and spins her around before placing her gently on his hip

He brings her back over to us at which point Chloe detaches our hands so she can take Klara

She sits our ten month old daughter on her lap so she's leaning against the both of us before resting her own head against me while she fawns over Klara for her new achievement

Toby sits down beside me and I put my arm that isn't already wrapped around Chloe around him and there we are, one happy family

But then Chloe had a little something to add to the celebrations

"You guys, I've got something to tell you" she told us slightly nervously as she avoided my gaze and Toby's as well

"What is it?" I ask her gently, quite curious by this

"You got your wish babe" she tells me but I'm completely confused

Then suddenly it clicks

"Wait seriously?!" I can't believe what I'm hearing

"What's going on?" Toby asks slightly nervously

"Your dad and I are having another baby" she explained slightly worriedly

"Really?!" He asked in a tone I couldn't read

"Are you okay?" She asked him nervously

"No, I'm not okay" he started and I felt a lump forming in my throat "I'M AMAZING! I CANT WAIT!" He yelled and that made Klara giggle in excitement

"Really?" I asked him in almost disbelief

"Yeah!" He exclaimed

"I was terrified you'd hate this" Chloe whispered

"Well I'm really happy" he replied excitedly

This is amazing, everything is finally going right for us, everyone is finally happy

When I first met Chloe I was convinced it would never work, I hadn't dated anyone in over a decade but for some reason no matter how many hurdles there were we survived and no matter how many reasons there were for her to run she stayed

She took on more than I could ever have imagined any woman would and I love her with all of my heart

My son finally has a mother and I now have a daughter with another child on the way

How did I get so lucky? Finally we're not all divided and at odds anymore

We're finally one happy family

We're finally together
