Emma's P.O.V

Shit!

I cursed aloud, kicking one of the isolated stones in frustration. It was one of our friend's birthday today and we were on our way to surprise him. And for our luck, my car broke down in the middle of no where.

"Great! Now what are we supposed to do?", Alisa wailed dramatically.

"Sit here and lay eggs?", Jesse suggested with a smirk.

I couldn't help but snigger at Jesse's comment amidst all the tension.

"Haha! Very funny! Remind me to laugh tomorrow?", Alisa sneered back.

Sky ignored the two of them and approached me.

"What has gone wrong?", She asked me, her face masked with concern.

"The belt of the steering wheel is not intact. It's hard for us to fix it because we aren't used to these type of work. We need a mechanic", I told her, sighing in frustration for the umpteenth time.

"We can't even see a house for miles from here. How are we going to find one?", Jesse asked as she shot a teasing smile towards a now pale Alisa.

Jesse had a point. The road was deserted on either sides. Vehicles rarely went by this road. And calling a mechanic from back home would't work because it would get him around three hours to get here. By that time we would have already been roasted and toasted under the scorching noon sun.

"We've got only one option", I told my friends with my hands on my hips.

They all gave me a questioning look.

"We need to give away our surprise visit and call Adam to come assist us with a mechanic since his house is only half an hour away. Is that okay with you guys?", I asked them with my eyebrow raised.

"Okay!", Alisa was the first to blurt.

She then quickly slammed her mouth shut with her hands as her eyes widened in horror. Unfortunately for her, she realized her blunder too late.

We all glared and pretended to be disappointed at her, making her blush furiously in embarrassment.

"What? I was just being logical", was her nervous reply as she raised her hands in surrender.

I couldn't help but chuckle as the rest shook their heads in amusement.

Alisa and her frantics.

"I'll call him", Sky told as she took her mobile out.

I nodded at her.

No matter how badly we didn't want to, we had no choice. We had to call him. He was our last resort.

I sighed dejectedly and looked around at everyone.

"Till he arrives, I'll give it a try", I told them as I rolled up the sleeves of my navy blue shirt.

"I'll help", Jesse said excitedly.

I shot her a greatful smile as she tagged along.

"Can you go get the torch from the back?", I asked her as I examined the insides of the bonnet.

Jesse projected the beam of torch light towards the mechanism as I somehow managed to remove the belt which was trapped in the middle of nowhere. Thank God! The belt was unharmed. We just had to fix it so that it stays intact around the wheel which was the hardest part.

"Adam said that he will come", Sky told, peeping over my shoulder.

I nodded at her and kept trying to fix it, but to no avail, my effort was all a waste. My hands were greased and sweat poured down my forehead. I was too concentrated on my work that I completely missed Alisa shouting.
